It's an all synthetized sound created on audacity. I wanted to recreat the sound of an ovni, but not one that makes people scared : like there is only one alien in this ovni but it seems pretty nice. I started by created a new audiotrack, then i generated chirps and keeping the default values. Then i duplicated the track and made a stereo track of both. I add wahwah effect on the track, changing and modulate the different default values (for example, highest dept and a lot of resonance). After, i add phaser affect on the whole track to make the sound a little bit more spacial. Then i normalized the track. Last, i raised the speed twice by 2. A close up recording of an overheating usb slot-loading cd/dvd drive that repeatedly tries to spin up, but fails and makes some clicking noises. Note on low frequency sounds: i recorded this with a zoom h1n recorder at about 2cm distance from the drive slot. I held the recorder in my hand and rested my hand on the surface the cd drive was resting on, so there is somewhat of a mechanical connection between the drive's vibrations and the recorder. I believe this led to the low frequency parts of the recording. About halfway through the recording, i lifted the drive up with my other hand and held it at a 30degree angle to the surface and recorder. As you can hear in the recording, this made it spin up a little longer before failing and spinning back down.

That interesting time of year between winter and spring. Actually, here in the northern hemisphere winter can still be strongly felt. . . The outside temp. When this recording was done was a very cold 30 degrees f. But, as you can hear, the main players in this small-town soundscape are the american robins (turdus migratorious) who are busy vocalizing and setting up their territory. Despite the cold, these summer residents don't seem to let that get in their way. Recording made at 6:30am on tuesday march 13th, 2018 in the backyard of a home in a small town in illinois. In 's-hertogenbosch in holland we have carnival every year. This is a recording in the centre of the city. A recording of several 'dweilorkesten' that is a band that plays musing in the street. 'literal' translation is 'mop band or mopping band'. The go trough the streets like someone mopping the floor. This recording at the market-place is made with hundreds of people around. The ambience here is totally different from other places in the town and the world. It complete different than the south american carnival. Recorded: march 7th 2011, markt, 's-hertogenbosch, holland. This is a precise emulation of the audible time signal broadcast by radio station wwv of the nist in the usa on shortwave. This recording was produced via a program i wrote that emulates the time signal and recreates it from scratch, but it conforms precisely to the specs of the real signal. The only part missing is the voice announcement of the time, which, in the real broadcast, is made during the last fifteen seconds of each minute (which is why the tone changes to just clicks during that time). There are two minutes in the recording, but it should be easy to loop it or otherwise modify it for other durations. Since this audio file was computer-generated from scratch, it contains no noise, but the real broadcast has some static and noise, especially at large distances from the transmitter in colorado. On the other side of a line of trees was the launch pad for the towns fire work show. The mic is angled at the sky. Along with the big round booms and flat smacky booms you can also make out the swish as rockets swirl through the air. In between booms, whistles and fizzles you you can also hear the sound of the debris from the cardboard shells falling around me. Sometimes they were on fire, though you can't hear that quality in the audio. It's good for fireworks and is pretty easy to eq for more of a distant quality. I find it's more fun using it to sweeten weapons. The full recording is 29 minutes.

September 19, 2020 shenzhen, china tested the air raid system. Sorry for the background noise. I was standing on a city street on a rainy day and the cars made a lot of noise driving through the wet streets. I'm not sure if they do this test every year but i do remember they did it last year. I'm also not sure if this is province wide (guangdong) or maybe even country wide. The government let us know about a week earlier that they would do the test. If they let me know one day or even better one hour before the test, i may have been able to get to a quieter area for a better recording. There were some tests earlier with longer tones but my recording had even more background noise and this was the best one.

This is a first in a series of loops made with the x-base09 drum-kit i have posted long time ago, i thought this would be a nice addition. Loops will be mainly processed in live9. Information will be available depending on the loop. This loop is a dry unprocessed loop, all i did was reduce the release on one of the kicks, as it has a long delay, and i didn't want that in the background of this loop, some midi velocity on the hi-hats, and i added a groove (chachacha) with only 10% quantization. This first loop was mainly to show the original sound of the individual hits as they where recorded, playing as a loop to give you a better picture of the sounds and therefore i added it to the x-base kit instead of x-base loop pack.

So i recently got a new portable recorder (sony pcm-d100). Early one spring morning, i could hear a woodpecker crystal clear from inside my room, with my noise canceling headphones still snug on my head. So naturally, i did a lil ambient recording. Since it was spring, the rich chorus of birdsongs made it, in my book, a freesound-worthy file. I didn't process this very much, except wrapping it around near the end so it could seamlessly loop back, and eqing it to bring out the birds more and soften the mic-noise. We where located in the news media viewing area called nasa causeway. This as close as anyone can get to the launch. This was the maiden voyage of the orion spacecraft, and one of the very few delta iv heavy launches. In the beginning of recording you hear nasa announcer giving countdown into loud speakers, when you reach around the 1min 50 sec mark the true booster engine sound overtakes the pa system. We are very grateful for the opportunity to share this, most powerful man made machine with 2. 1million pounds of thrust to get millions of pounds into space.

Just today transferred to digital using my fathers old decca legato tape player which we purchased in the early 70s to enable us to send messages to my uncle who had emigrated to australia. Dad says the player cost over £30 then which was more than a weeks wages at the time. I was inter-railing around europe at the time but the recording seems to stop in pamplona. Six weeks later all my money and passport was stolen while in crete and i made my way home via the british consulate in athens.

This is a recording made in the room of my apartment in italy in the province of rieti, while i am testing a drone dji phantom 4 pro clone, purchased 3 days ago on the vova site, only during the test it suffered two accidents. The first 5 minutes for 3 flights everything went well, then on the fourth flight, as the drone was also without para-propellers, the first small accident happened, on landing he fell to the ground from the bed, then resumed flying for another two times. On the third flight there was a second bigger accident: first he started spinning the propellers against the wall for a while, then he fell to the ground rolling until he hid under the bed. This time, however, even after this great accident, the drone resumed flying normally as if nothing had happened. This recording was done with my iphone connected to the shure mv88 plus microphone.

One of the most haunting sounds that i have ever captured. I got on the bus one day and didn't notice anyone on there when i sat down, and then a few moments later, i started hearing this sound. I was confused as to what to do. Do i turn around and look at this laugh-er in the face? what would a person laughing like this do to me if i looked at them? how could a person even laugh like this? it doesn't sound physically possible. As more and more people got on the bus, i saw nobody looking in his direction either. Am i maybe imagining this sound? is there a tiny many laughing in my head?. Upon leaving the bus, i looked back and couldn't tell who must have made the sound, but regardless, it still literally shakes me a bit hearing this audio. . . . The beautiful, simple call of the field cricket is one of my favorite insect sounds. In late summer though the huge choruses of katydids and cicadas often drown out the simple beauty of this love song. Later, as the season progresses into fall and the temps dip to where the cicadas and katydids no longer sing, these simple, beautiful field cricket calls still last up to the time that the days just can't stay warm any longer. I like to see how late into the season i can hear these guys---something just hauntingly mesmerizing hearing this sound and no other on a mild autumn day, after a cold night. . This is a simple recording of the passing crowd in the heart of the latin quarter of paris, france, on a wednesday evening between christmas and new year's eve. The recording was made at the corner of the pedestrian xavier privas and huchette streets, with the mics aimed diagonally across the street, about 4. 5 feet above ground. By a happy coincidence (i'd like to say that i engineered it, but i didn't), this sound file loops seamlessly. The clip includes the sounds of many people passing by (the area was very crowded), and some snippets of conversation, mostly in french, with a few other languages thrown in. Some faint traffic noise can be heard on the left, from the busy quai saint michel street along the south bank of the seine river, at the north end of the xavier privas street (left of the mics in this recording). Underhood recording of my renault 19 with oldish carburetted cleon engine (c2j). Double barrel webber 32 drt carb ~72ps engine. Start engine, tire skid, hard acceleration up to 6000 rpm and coast down to idle, several times. Throttle blips up to 7000 rpm. Mic: sony ecm-ds30p stereorecorder: sony mz-n707 mini disc, sp mode, agc: off. Wanted to test this cheap mic and custom made windscreen - this is my first car recording, and that's why i started with this cheap microphone, don't want to learn on expensive stuff. Still, i'm amazed how the recording turned out, it's $24 mic in not very silent area, yet it captured sound rather nicely. Windscreen (cost $0) turned out to be not that good :).

As the earth continues to slowly tilt the northern hemisphere away from the warmth of the sun's rays, the pace of life in midwestern fields slows down. This recording was made at 3pm on wednesday october 5 2022 in a huge, 70-plus acre, abandoned farm field. A field bordered thousands of acres of state-owned forest. The soft peeps of the few remining birds, grubbing around for protein-packed insects is the soundtrack. At 5 minutes into this recording a delightful, friendly exchange between two birds as if they are saying "hey, let's help each other find food before this field is blanketed with snow at cold. ". At 7:05 in this recording a truck slowly drives by, softly crunching gravel and the driver slows down to witness this annual, melancholy autumnal change. For years i haven't uploaded any sounds except my news themes, (thanks to you for your nice comments and thousands of downloads)now i give you an impulse response i made to check how my mixes would sound on a typical living room audio setup (but listening with headphones). The chain: technics hifi-system, multi-cone speakers, audix reference microphone, focusrite preamps. To use it like intended, just load this file into a convolution plugin in your master insert. You'll hear your mix like sitting. . . Well. . . In my living room. It'll sound muffled to you, that's because i captured the ir and all the reflections with an omni-directional mic and i have thick curtains ;-dof course it can be used as a really, really nice and natural-sounding ambience ir, too. Brownian noise sounding like a flying plane at 3×10^4 feet above the earth. . . I created that in audacity! final peak amplitude: 0. 75000 (linear) -2. 49877 db. I applied a bunch of filter curves to make this 90 second loop, normalized to 75% volume. I started with 120 seconds, then made it 90 seconds. Estimated start pitch: d2 (75. 000 hz). Because of the 1024 mb limit, i can't upload the 108-minute version (2 channels, 24-bit, 48000 hz costs 1. 74 gib). Sorry. The final sample rate is 48000 hz, 24-bit wav.
