This sound is a superposition of two records. First, i recorded a coffee machine and cut it to extract just the sound of the money that falls in. Then, i recorded the sound of keys and mix it together on audacity. I wanted to make a sound that can be repeated in a loop. So, i copied the record of the coffee machine to give a rhythm to the sound. I tried to cut the sound of the key perfectly to make a loop with the help of the option “search for crosses with zero”. Then, i added view effects. I have changed the amplification in purpose to bring out more the sound of the coffee machine. I also change the reverberation. Gradually, my sound made me think of a music in a video game that i used to play, rayman. It was difficult to describe what the sound was like, but i liked the atmosphere, so i kept it. Then, a friend told me it made him think of a frog noise, and i liked the idea. This sound is created with two sounds that i recorded at the university. First, the sound of the huge door to out, then the lighter (which helps to feel the cold around) and the sound of someone smoking a cigarette. First of all, i cut the two fragment,from two different track, that i wanted for my mix. After, i first worked on the door sound. After i reduced noises, because all seemed better after noises reduced ! i made the same thing for the other sound, the lighter and smoker one. The cicadas crawl out of the ground, shed their skins, and climb up into the trees. One cicada makes a loud and distinctive sound, but a whole group of them creates a dull roar. This recording was made on the cemetery ridge trail at clear creek metro park in rockbridge, ohio. I was standing some distance from the cicada sounds, trying to capture the pervasive roar from a distance. Sound recorded using the built-in mic on an iphone 5.

Squeaky audio cable-to-speaker incomplete connection. One end is plugged into a speaker and the other is not plugged into anything. The squeaking sound is made from my fingers touching the tip and sides of the metal tip of the non-connected end of the cable. The variation of sound and pitch is from moving my fingers up and down the metal tip in different speeds, angles, and placements. The sound has been slowed way down, and the pitch has been taken way down too, to create a low drone sound for industrial purposes or in mad chemistry lab scenes, etc. Anything with a dark, industrial, and slight sci-fi feels.

An excerpt from some in-car driving recordings i made with the windows wound down. My starting point is geotagged. I first turn right out of trail ridge court in streamwood, il, then wait to turn left at the intersection of schaumburg road and south sutton road. I then head north on il route 59. The car is a 1996 chrysler lhs 3. 5l v6 (note the recognizable sound of the creaky chrysler transmission as i slow to a stop). My recording setup was two audio technica at851a boundary mics, mounted upside down on the interior roof and facing out of the driver and passenger windows (with appropriate wind protection), running through a mixer into a zoom h4.

A gunshot sound effect recorded for a high school production of the musical heathers. It was recorded on a zoom h1 and was made by a theatrical cap gun. I recorded it at a distance of about 5 feet and then again at a distance of about 40 feet from the audience and allowed the sound to reverberate both times. Then i duplicated both and mixed in both original sounds on top of each other, plus each sound pitched down 1 octave and the 40-feet away recording at 2 octaves down, plus the closer recording pitched one octave up. We then added and adjusted reverb in audacity and adjusted the sync of all the clips to be aligned, and adjusted the mix to make it sound as real as possible.

The pretty, soothing, trilling song of the pine warbler. These callings were recorded on sunday march 30th 2014 in a small pine grove, in the middle of a larger forest. On the day i recorded this, the weather was perfectly sunny, and mild -- temps about 60 degrees -- with very little wind. When i first heard this song, i was instantly reminded of a sewing machine. Enjoy. Recording made with my zoom h4-n field recorder, using a rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone placed on a tripod, about 3 feet above the forest floor. To make sure i got a decent level on this soft call, i did have to crank up the recording volume to about 85 on the scale of 100.

These short files are random selections from a 9min composite audio file i put together from an accidental recording made when i left my sony camcorder on in my studio. They are part of the same series posted elsewhere on thefreesoundproject site titled "accidental recordist". There is some hiss/background noise which is part of the street front urban scene of my studio. There are two chimes - one low pitch constructed of four aluminium tubes and wooden clapper (gift) and the high pitch one of small stainless steel discs (purchased in maui from craft shop). I did some basic cleanup of low level background noise and applied plus one level of loudness using adobe soundbooth cs3 to get some clarity.

This sound is completely analog. I recorded the sound of a person who was walking on the street. I chose to leave the noise of the street so that we understand that the person walks outside. I used the effect "amplification" to reduce the noise of the street and increase the sound of step. I made a fade in opening and closing, so that we have the impression that the steps are moving towards us then moves away. At the same time, i played with the pitch of the sound to accentuate this effect. Made this in bitwig, i used 17 different layers to make this. A kick drum is added before the gunshot to add punch. Sub bass is synthesized for the deep lowend, 30-50hz. All layers were selected for certain frequencies using eq and then processed together with multiband compression. Shell sounds, mechanical noises were added for more depth. Using automation, the pitch, decay, and phase of every single layer used other than the subbass, morph to give life to the sound loop, and not sound robotic. Even though it "might" sound real, its an illusion of sounds being played from a midi clip. Enjoy.

A suspenseful riser made from a wet mix of a rate-shifted bed frame being hitted and reversed after it has been "glued" or rendered as is, producing a deep, "mega-marvin" similar sample. A sample that was created from utilizing chromatic tones, stretching, reverb and the use of the wet/dry filtering to get the mix "just right". If you aren't aware of what the mega-marvin is. Mega-marvins are essentially instruments containing extremely heavy string, woodwind and varying density of materials that generate strong noises, trailing ambiances and brass-like sound qualities quite suited to the horror genre, generating a daunting and sorrowful sounds. Very fascinating stuff, look it up if you can - they're big and quite technical.

Five minutes of rain, artificially created. Same mix as my other "five minutes of rain" upload, but without the reverb in case you want to add your own. Process:. Using a blue yeti usb condenser mic on the cardioid pattern, i made a 30-minute recording of sounds from my sink (drips, splashes, different faucet pressures) and cut them up into 60 files, later edited down to 20. These were layered together and mixed with white, pink, and brownian noise. Slight noise removal applied. Recorded basic mic noise, and used a subtractive processor (reafir in reaper) to remove that sound from the final mix. .

Thrilling music i made in garageband for something called victors crypt!. I used a rhythm with toms with a bassline on top. A flute is coming in along with an electric guitar and a clean "twangy" guitar. . . . Get the feeling of emptiness in a big space. . . It's a recording of a man operating a chainsaw in a forest near an underground repair station. I've been biking through the forest whe i heard the chainsaw, so i stopped and recorded 7 minutes of him cutting off branches, tembers and walking around a bit. You can heat the chainsaw, natural forest reverb, sometimes a plane flying by or an undergroud train. The recording was made from around 20~30 meters from the sound source. Recorded with a zoom h2 (rear mics, hi gain, 96/24). Originally a 96khz / 24-bit wav file. Converted to flac using audacity.

But i also added a synth to get an atmosphere and spook things up. I think it could be good for something mysterious and a bit eerie. Anyway hope you like it.
