This is a creepy recording of a "spy station" or numbers station on a shortwave radio band. These stations existed heavily in the cold war to relay info to spys. Many still exist today on shortwave.

I bought a portable sw radio for about £2 from a local flea-market, hoping to pick up some interesting radio stations from around the world and maybe some "spy" numbers stations if i was lucky. open channel d, "channel d open". This is suppossed to be the sound of napoleon solo's pen communicator in the man from uncle, the tv spy series of the 1960's (i was a big fan as a teenager). I put this as the ringtone for members of my family whose phone calls i cannot ignore. It was created using the ringtone generator on a nokia 3620 mobile phone.

This is a tune i've made out of a short saxophone riff (using edirol orchestral vst) which i've pitch shifted and reversed and reverbed and stuff and i think it sounds a bit 80s and very much like background music for some sort of tv program or film with spying or detectives or ghosts or possibly straight horror.
