Created and formatted for use in the make noise morphagene. Released in 1985, the casio sk-1 was a battery powered sampling keyboard that has become something of a cult favorite. We have reformatted its classic built-in rhythms (as well as their fill-in variations) as a reel of splices for your morphagene! download them today and transform them into something new!. A straightforward pattern made in the lmms daw, i used the analog bell preset with a delayed, pitched-down arpeggio of sorts. Over time, the tempo increases, from about 50 bpm in the beginning, to 150 bpm in the end.

Each accidental pattern was mined out of a much longer recording. I noticed these interesting sequences of noises while editing other samples over the years and threw them into a catch-all folder. All of these were recorded with a usb-stick mic so they have a nice lo-fi distorted quality. Try looping any of these patterns and you'll hopefully understand why i selected them.

Half time: notice the snare moves to beats 3 of measure one and two (beats 3 & 7) while the hi-hat plays only on the quarter notes. Note also, for example, that the quarter notes 'sound like' eighth notes in one giant measure.

Five is four: a polyrhythmic analog-synth loop with ambiguous five or four time signature. Slightly frantic sounding, arpeggiator-like rising pattern a bit like a shepard tone, it's a 5/4 pattern, but accents are distributed in 4/4. 180 bpm, key is a-minor (a-minor then f-major). Two loops marked in wav file, first is the bare synth pattern, loop is samples 0 to 640,000; second is with a pad, loop is samples 960,000 to 1,600,000.
