I was on my way to a meeting a few doors down from this intersection and there was some nice sounds happening, it's in the late morning and so people are hard at work and moving around and doing their thing. There's some cool door chimes, trucks, traffic, random conversations, etc.

The hens slowly realize the reality of their situation and return to their scavenging. You produce a deep clucking bellow -- one last attempt to reach them. But it's too late, the hens pay you no mind. It is time to go.

Field recording of diamond lake a few hours before a storm hit that forced all boats to dock. This is in late may of 2022. On a hike at the north end of the lake, i stood at the edge of the water and held my recorder close to the growing waves.

The beautiful, simple call of the field cricket is one of my favorite insect sounds. In late summer though the huge choruses of katydids and cicadas often drown out the simple beauty of this love song. Later, as the season progresses into fall and the temps dip to where the cicadas and katydids no longer sing, these simple, beautiful field cricket calls still last up to the time that the days just can't stay warm any longer. I like to see how late into the season i can hear these guys---something just hauntingly mesmerizing hearing this sound and no other on a mild autumn day, after a cold night. . I was trying to record the sound of six loons calling to each other, but was interrupted by an aggressive chipmunk who had decided that the lakeside was his and his alone. I recorded anyway. One of my favorite summer and late-summer sounds. The night-hawk is the star of this recording. This recording was made around 9pm at night in mid-august and, even though i never could see this nighthawk, his calls pierced through the night-sky to let me know he was up there, somewhere, orbiting on the prowl for mosquitos and other insects. I have always loved this sound ever since i was a kid and going to sleep at night i felt comforted knowing that, like some circling fighter jet, the nighthawks would be on the job, plowing down the population of mosquitos, while i slept all night. Recording actually made in the parking lot of a major midwest university around 9pm at night on august 19th, 2014. Equipment: marantz pmd661 modified by oade brothers electronics, beyerdynamic me58 microphone. My record volume was 7.

Background noise at a noisy japanese diner called saizeria in tokyo. Recorded sometime between 10:00-11:59 pm, you can hear people drinking and eating and having lively conversations in japanese. This is a stereo recording made with 2 coincidental mics at 120゜angles and 2 coincidental mics at 90゜angles.

I was at a human trafficking conference and to thank the people the first nations people of the area sang this song for a long time brushing the participants with cedar boughs and smudging. I caught about half of the singing and drumming. It was done in a large lunch room with about 100 people attending in the late afternoon. I recorded the sound with my lumix fz200. Location was in surrey british columbia.
