I decided to tinker around on an old kid's practice first act piano. There are metal rods inside that are struck, and produce a plink/ringing sound. It is also out of tune, which makes it wonderful for producing an eerie feeling when played in a minor key.

Assorted chord oneshots played on a piano that i found at the university of sydney back in 2014. Recorded in 96 khz for the heck of it, using a rode nt6 condenser microphone and a zoom h4n recorder. A small, mechanical music box plays, slows down and stops. Synthesized sound with stereo light reverb effect. Duration 0'52". Three turns of a wooden boxed clockwork mechanical key followed by a bright, nonsensical music box tune. As the tune plays, the tempo slows down - gradually at first but becoming profoundly slower towards the end. Tune ends on a melancholic note mid phrase. Could be used as a standalone effect, or perhaps metaphorically as a cipher for the aging process and cessation of life. The clockwork key effect is a rapidly repeating single mechanical clock tick filtered to sound box-like. The sound of the music box tines was created with ni fm8 using four sinewave oscillators, one of which feeds back on itself to produce a hint of metallic ringing.

This recording was taken with a rode nt4 mic and with a didge of mine in the key of b from northern queensland (kuranda). I have a tiled square enclosed shower so the reverberation is crazy, have a listen to my other recording with the same didge and mic (titled didge. Wav) but in an open room for comparison.

I bought this, and while fiddling with it i became mesmerized by the sounds it made. So i decided to record them foley-style. Recording starts with 15-second noise floor. Recorded with an iphone 7.

This sound is created with two sounds that i recorded at the university. First, the sound of the zip of the pocket and then the falling keys sound. First of all, i cut the two fragment,from two different track, that i wanted for my mix. After, i first worked on the zip sound, which was pretty bad recorded but, after reduced noises, all seemed better ! i made the same thing for the other sound, the falling keys one. Then i ad the last one at the end of the first one, mix a little bit to make the two sounds seemed natural together. After, i normalized the track. At the end, i saved and export my track !.
