This is a mix of everything so far; not exactly, but whether there are lots of cartoon sounds on the internet, they kinda look old with the “flashy” quality. Here is a collage of cartoon sounds i mixed up. Some of these sounds are usually hannah barbera, but a few ones from digiffects, i guess. Imagine something like this you can hear in a children’s cartoon, like spongebob, fairly odd parents, etc. Idk lol. Enjoy!.

Quiet urban residential area in tokyo at about 2 am in the late summer (october, i think). You can hear far off traffic, some night insects and a drunk guy who came to close to my hidden mics to take a whiz. Excluding the peeing guy, quiet parts are perfect for looping (for ambient background sounds in video or audio works). The peeing guy might actually be useful, so i didn't cut it out. Faithfully recorded with a stereo mic pair placed at a 90 degree angle. The left-right balance was adjusted and the stereo field was expanded later to fix the lopsided sided flatness of the original recording. Other than that, the recording is unprocessed.

This recording was done early one morning in may 2012 in the middle of scotland. You can hear the usual sounds of the countryside at this time of year and day. The two front microphones were facing the river tay, the two back ones drummond hill. This is the sound those front ones captured. All of them microphones were audio technica at-3031 ones, connected to the rme quadmic preamp into an edirol r-44 recorder. To get a quadraphonic or surround sound you have to download both tracks (they are next to eachother on the list) and alter them the way you want. If you compare them, then it shows what a difference it makes where you point those microphones.

An internal gas combustion engine starting up, and then cutting grass as it moves across the lawn. The clip is recorded from an elevated vantage point about 25 feet directly above the lawnmower. In the background some lawn debris can be heard hitting the blade and getting tossed. The variable pitch motor slows as it encounters heavier grass. It is the first grass cutting of the season and, being on the west coast, the grass is very thick with moisture enhanced growth. Recording of a door being opened and closed, and then opened and closed again. Very slight footsteps (on carpet) can be heard. The microphone (sennheiser mkh-50) was intentionally placed about 5 feet away from the door so as to capture some of the natural room sound/reverb (which is very subtle). I have another recording available of the exact same door and mic setup, but aimed slightly off-axis to capture just a bit more room sound. Recorded into a tascam 208i audio interface and into adobe audition. Very minor processing (low-cut at 80hz to remove low-freq rumble).

It's a funky mid-side configuration with dissimilar mics, i wanted to try this, expecting the at4040 to be a step up over the akg perception 220, but i knew this would be more dissimilar to the akg 220+400 pair. . . I've begun to notice how peaky the akgs can up around 5k-10k. What do you think?.

Pine cones dropping and landing on a bed of pine needles. This recording was made on a windy day, so there is some background "whooshing" wind; all in all, i think these pine cones softly landing on the needles can be put to good use. Recording made with my zoom h4n recorder, with a rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone. For this recording i literally wanted to get as close as i could, so i placed the shotgun microphone on the ground and carefully let the pine cones fall as close to the microphone as possible, but without hitting it. *not easy to do. This was all recorded in enumclaw, wa on july 4th, 2013. I used a yamaha pocketrak recorder throughout the day and into evening when the fireworks started. There's an old piano outside the music store and i just caught the end of a young guy playing some nice music. I then just walked down the street recording the sounds. You can hear me talking to a guy who's working for a local politician. The b-25 mitchell bomber flyover was totally unexpected and i was lucky to have had the recorder going. We needed some drum cadences for julius caesar and i was unable to find any i really liked so we grabbed our orchestra drummer here at the theater and we came up with 13 different cadences for us including jfk's funeral march. Most are done on snare and then again on a single tom, easily looped for duration. They have no verb on them so you can add as you desire for your space. This is the second version without the mechanical bolt. Maybe can be used for bolt action rifles. Made this is ableton live, it is multilayered with the top end of a 9mm and the low/mid range of an ak47. Another carbine sound is faded in after the transients to give more sustain. Two reverbs fade in and out creating a smooth transition and blend. A little white noise is added for subtle sheen and air. All the layers were grouped together into a single band compressor and ran through serum fx distortion and then into a krush distortion plugin for added fatness. A blending reverb was used to glue the sounds into the same space and ran into a final transient designer which is adding a little more snap and punch and clipping the excess transients off. Enjoy.
