Take a small section from the start for the traditional "rounds" where the bells sound in descending order (in terms of pitch), or select from the bulk of the recording to get some traditional english style change ringing. These bells are known as the bells white called dick whittington (mayor of london) back when he tried to flee, and also as the 'great bells of bow' in nursery rhyme 'oranges and lemons'. Snippets from recordings of me playing the tanpura. Tuned to e flat, the notes from top to bottom are b flat, e flat, c, low e flat. In traditional indian tuning the root note in the scale is referred to as sa and is e flat in this scale the fifth note (b flat in this scale) is referred to as pa and the sixth note (c) is dha. I noticed that my first pack of tanpura samples has a bit of fuzzy white noise so in this pack i have equalized - i reduced all the very high frequencies which got rid of most of the white noise without affecting the low frequency sounds of the tanpura itself. Please note this is the tanpura part of an instrument called the swar sangam which combines the swarmandal (indian harp) and the tanpura, it is not a traditional tanpura and does sound slightly different.

Our neighbors fought a lot. Usually at around 2am and it would go on for about an hour or two. Besides being angry and annoyed, my girlfriend and i were always curious as to what they could possibly be fighting about. I had the idea to record them via a long mic cable stretching down the hallway, strategically hidden behind a few pieces of wood, to their apartment door. My plan was to one day play this from my stereo at a loud volume around 2am. As i later thought this through i realized that this would only disturb my other quiet neighbors and was a fairly selfish act. Anyway, i used a $100 audio-technica stereo mic and recorded it directly into my computer as an. Aiff. They seem to be arguing about a stereo and someone not loving the other. It's rather sad. We no longer live in that building so i have no idea what became of them. I hope they are happier now. Enjoy.

I just love this deep rich harmonic sound with some phase modulation! i've tried to capture it the last month and half and finally managed it. There's quite a lot of air traffic (planes and helicopters) here in prague - písnice, but most of the helicopters have poor sound. It is bell 407 helicopter ok-alb in black/beige color operated by blue sky service (http://www. Ok-alb. Com/). Flight mode-s code a37a9ea. First it approaches with the deep harmonic sound, then it flies by overhead with a more noisy mid-spectrum sound. Recorded on zoom h4nsp, this time with 4gb sd card which has far lower startup time than 32 gb one (like 12 secs compared to more than a minute). Besides the helicopter itself there are some birds singing, insects buzzing and some rumble from the wind (i didn't manage attach the deadcat windshield so quickly). Basic frequency: ~ 33. 87 hz. This sound was recorded via the use of a behringer b2 microphone, fostex fr2 and a home made parabolic reflector made from a tv satellite dish. The source of the sound was between 100m-200m away from the microphone. This has been eq'ed with high-end shelving to reduce gain noise, low-end shelved up to 1khz (to reduce wind and background noise) and the overall gain has been increased. My original dw toms, mixed with themselves 1 octave up [the octave up is lowered -6db and the envelope reshaped to allow loud only the attack]. Then for that resulting mixdow again the same thing [so i used the same method two times]. At all steps i was using the simple compressor[not multiband] for not allowing overlimiting. For the two general mixdowns [because it was a double process] i used hard compressor at -0. 45 dbs. And for the two octavic parallel channels i used hard compressor -3. 60 dbsbecause the octave doesn't sound realistic if not well compressed. For all my dw octavic tomsed i used the same exact method. My original dw toms are here if you want to read data or mics. These toms do not sound realistic as stand alone sounds. These harmonics work better only in a complete mixdown, and have increased audibility than the original recordings [for silent music parts use the original because low velocity of parallel instruments will expose the supportive tom-harmonics].

I wanted to see if i could make a warning effect like the civil defense messages that play on the radio for storms and other emergencies, so i recorded my voice, and pitched it down, equalized it, put it through a high pass filter and lo and behold, i think it sounds pretty darn close. I then coupled it with a couple alert tones from my local noaa / nssl station and this sound was born. My first upload! this sound i made using the zmors synth on my ipad air2 - i used audiobus which is a great routing software allowing many of a lot of awesome sounding synths that are now on ipad and can be played professionally via a usb keyboard controller (very handy for gigging) okay this is getting too wordy. . . I used audiobus overall with zmors in the first slot being routed through the wonderful aufx eq app in the center (effects) slot then ran the most useful of all ---> audioshare app in the 3rd or output slot to record it all. . . Keep in mind that the number of devices you can run in these three slots is virtually limitless - as much as your device can handle so you can get really nuts with several synths, a drum machine, etc all routing to the middle (fx) stop in the chain and picking up a fat 3 or 4 nice sounding effects devices then on to output to audioshare or you can now use just audioshare as host and run zmors in it directly (and probably more smoothly). I chose zmors because on a couple of other ipads (ipad mini, ipad 2 especially, and ipad air a little bit) i was noticing that it was a resource hog and was not playing correctly or there was a huge lag in the latency so with the new(er) ipad air 2 i wanted to hear the zmors synth and it really is an underappreciated majestic sounding beast if you ask me. I am going to experiment further with it as the unique architecture and just the way it sounds is totally different from any other synth i've yet to hear on ipad or in general. It kind of reminds me of a fatter, more modern. Sequential circuits 6 track. Which i've had a couple of and have a thick layered sound - kind of like a really nice turkey sandwich with a good portion of swiss cheese then you notice that there's still some roast beef left and put a good amount of that between bread as well. We develop iphone app that perform musical analysis on recorded audio from the iphone. Our app implementation make use of the audio queue service to receive raw audio buffers from the audio queue callback. In the first version of our app we had the problem of too much clipping on the recording which degrade the accuracy of our analysis. We also suspected that the noise canceling algorithm in iphone 5 produce distorted sound, which is not much noticeable by human ear but distorted enough to affect our sensitive algorithm. We found that the solution to our problem is to set the audio session mode to kaudiosessionmode_measurement. This session mode is supposed to give maximum freedom for us to control the microphone input, which include turning off the automatic gain control and probably noise canceling as well. The solution works very well except that it introduce a strange waveform pattern in the beginning of all recordings in iphone 5. It is very hard to explain the waveform we get, so i made two recordings at freesound so that you can see it visually. The first recording is made in an almost quite environment, and you can see the weird spike in the beginning of the recording. The second recording (this recording) is made with constant background noise, and you can see that the actual sound wave is offset from the strange curve and gradually increase to its original volume. This waveform only happens on iphone 5 devices that we tested, and there is no problem at all for iphone 4s and older generations. We have tried various settings and the glitch is still unavoidable as long as we set the audio session mode to kaudiosessionmode_measurement. We also find similar glitch in one of our iphone 5 devices, in which the glitch happens even if we try to set just the input gain level without changing the session mode. We are not sure if this is a hardware-related bug in iphone 5, or if it is fixable software glitch in the future version of ios. For the moment we are looking for workaround that can avoid this glitch while automatic gain control and noise canceling are disabled.

This is a collection of "small room reverb" impulse responses that i sampled in a new england home known as butternut lodge, built and owned by actress bette davis back in 1940. It consists of all wooden rooms with many non-parallel surfaces, rugs and furniture and includes 3 round-shaped "silo" rooms! these rooms sound clean and do not have the irritating "ping" of many rectangular rooms. Although these round shapes (and some of the other very small rooms) could potentially wreak havoc with phase at specific frequencies when summed to mono, i recorded this using the mid/side mic technique; therefore, the "side" channels fully cancel out, leaving a clean monaural reverb signal. These irs are stored as flac files. They can be used directly by any daw without conversion and have the added feature of being id3 tagged with a photo of the room each ir is taken from. After downloading, select view -> large icons in the folder to view the rooms. I sampled each room using a swept sine wave into a jbl flip 6 bluetooth speaker; recorded through a tascam tm-st1 m/s stereo microphone, feeding a tascam dr-07 recorder @ 24-bits 44. 1 khz and deconvolved using reaper. As of this post, i've been using these rooms for about 2 weeks. So far, i've found the "garage" to sound fantastic on drums! the drum sound! also, many of the other smaller rooms have a great effect on guitars, keys, and hand percussion. Each room varies in tone and brightness, so i've found that selecting/tuning the reverb send works well if approached like an eq. Increase the effect send until the instrument "feels" right (then perhaps back off slightly). A close-miked acoustic guitar, for instance, will take on a nice brightness and 3-d quality; not particularly reverberant, just big. I cut the beginning as well as the end, adding a constant gain at the beginning and a constant fade at the end so that the sound would be even more harmonic. Then i slightly compressed the sound, and normalized it. Then i used a “noise reduction” in order to get rid of the sound in the background and a slight equalizer. She taped her old iphone to the inside of the door on her new water cooler/ice maker combo, and let the ice maker run for a few cycles. She even typed up a description of what it does for me so i could post this here on freesound:the water is pumped from a reservoir underneeth the ice tray into a tray above that houses 9 pegs. The water is then cooled to freezing, while the 9 pegs are simultaneously cooled to hold the ice in place. More water is then pumped into the tray to thicken each piece of ice. After a few minutes, excess water is dumped back into the reservoir and ice falls from the pegs into the ice tray. The process then repeats. Enjoy and use however you like!.

Here in the midwest we were treated to a nice preview of autumn here in the northern hemisphere. Both the temperature and humidity were nicely lower than usual and this soundscape was recorded featuring the beautiful northern breezes and a few of the birds that still live here. Since this ambience was recorded during the work-week, there are hardly any man-made internal combustion engine noises. Just the wind lifting and swirling through the tired forest and the blue jays, crows and insects. Recording made at 2:30pm on september 13 2022. Equipment used: recorder-sound devices 702microphones- left channel- sennheiser mkh 416right channel - sennheiser mkh 8070. The right channel, the very low-noise direction shotgun microphone, was pointed just about straight up at the leaves and branches of a huge cottonwood tree whose dry leaves were putting on a show. Hope you can hear this. Recorded and edited in stereo so either good studio monitors or headphones will make you feel you are in the forest surrounded by the gentle breezes swirling through oaks and cottonwood trees and insects and birds.

Recorded with tascam dr-07mkii. While on holiday staying in a country cottage near some cow fields, there was a mother cow and what must have been her 2 calves which had been put into separate fields either side of a road. This was obviously pretty distressing for the cows and so they were constantly mooing at each other and being the kind of guy i am, of course i recorded it!. I have done as much as i can to reduce wind and other background noises (the windshield i have for my dr-07 doesn't seem to do a lot except make it look like it's got a 70s afro) and have trimmed all the cow sounds out and put them together into this one file. Some are better than others, it was hard to know which cow was gonna make a noise next. Rain falling on my apartment. I´m the last floor and have ceiling windows. I move around the apartment getting different versions. Midway you can hear light music in the background. This was captured from last year. I thought my recorder wasn't working properly because when i checked the recording, i couldn't find the file. The time/date stamp was screwy. Lol anyway, i didn't see the couple but they were in the room right next to mine. I could literally hear them through the door. I thought at first that it was more than just a couple in the room but after listening several times i think it was just one couple. Like i said, i didn't see them. There is some conversation towards the end but nothing significant that needs to be censored or deleted. The guy was joking with the girl about being a "five star fuck". ;d lol throughout the recording, you might hear some "knocking" and creaking sounds. Sorry. That was me. I kept my hotel door propped open and i was peeking out every now and then to check on my recorder. Anyway, i wasn't able to get a recording this year but i was able to find this one (that i thought was lost) from last year, so enjoy! :d.

This is a recording of me vacuuming my carpet (a short carpet, not sure of the exact name of it), in a small studio apartment in kansas city, ks. It's recorded with the worst mic possible (a generic labtec microphone you can buy at an office supply store for like 10 bucks). I literally have no idea the vacuum brand, as i searched all over it for a whole minute, to no avail. But who cares the brand, because it sounds cool! (it has "120v~60hz 7amps" if that means anything to you) i am mainly vacuuming up kitty litter from the carpet because my cat likes to make sand castles for hours on end and she likes to think "outside the box" as it may. Oh, and there is an obstacle between the mic and the space i'm vacuuming, it's literally a screen room divider. I recorded this just because i thought it would be cool, plus i'm just starting an associates in audio engineering, so i figured i could get experience doing just about anything. Oh, and the end is my favorite part, just because i like listening to the motor click off and wind down. Ummm. . . Yeah, i think that's about it. Enjoy!.

I videoed this sound of a subway train in glasgow scotland on the famous "clockwork orange" train as they are called. I used my canon powershot a460 digital camera to video this, i simply took the sound from the video. I was lucky enough to get a good run on this with just a few poeple on board, so there wasn't any other sound apart from the train, the only time you here some movement of feet is when the doors open. Please note, anybody is free to use this sound, you don't have to credit me, but it would be fun to hear how you use my sound if possible. :) here is the link to the type of licence i use. This is a recording of an office paper shredder starting up. This model of paper shredder has a button that you can press to run it briefly in reverse, in order to clear paper jams and clean the blades. If the shredder hasn't been used in a while, it takes several seconds to start, and makes a cool noise while doing so. The click at the start of the recording is the switch being pressed. You then hear the motor struggling to start up for about five seconds, and finally it comes up to speed. The high-frequency crackling you hear, particularly once the motor is running smoothly, comes from bits of paper still rolling around in the blades (easy to convert into a campfire or rain). There's another click at the end when the reverse button is released. I uploaded this because several parts of the recording sounded like they'd lend themselves to morphing in various ways to create other interesting noises. Recorded with a hand-held zoom h4n, stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, with the built-in mics, positioned about six inches above the rotating blades of the shredder.

Here, i manipulate the envelope filter twice. First, a recorded loop, of my vintage teisco60's 70's don't remember anymore, doesn't matterguitar, i found for 90 euro at an online rommelmarktlet's say. . . I put the envelope filter so that it 'just' triggerson the peaks of my audio file. . . Oww yeah !!!. The second time i trigger the envelope filter, is wheni play live on top of the recorded loop, i'm playing on purposepercussive, a coup of my hand with an immediate attack, toeven further more let the filter open & because of the amazinggrainy low-frequency based russian sovtek big muff the filtergrowls even more. . . On top of the just percussive behavior, i playof course an harmonic, content related sequence, feeling that the loopwhile being in an odd measure, already is repeating itself , the liveplaying, contrastwise, makes variation in texture & harmonic/melodice content. . . This is a mix of deep boom sounds i mixed together. Probably like 30 or more sounds to get just what i wanted, even my own voice mixed in there somewhere. Figured others might find this useful. This is the version which is pitched even lower then the normal one i made. Might as well say what i used this for. So in making a big huge video for my family, where i've filmed them doing certain things and not tell them why, to which i'll present the video when we all get together for christmas eve, 2019. Theres also a part where i hosted a picnic, filmed everyone, and then asked them to karate chop or kick towards the camera. The next day i went with a crew and filmed ninjas around the park. Edited together with the family attacking the ninjas then the ninjas falling back and exploding with a particle effect on after effects. This is an edited version from the main sound heard when that happens. I made a few others using the base sound. In these recordings i am only using the swarmandal (harp) part. It is tuned to c sharp, but i have dropped the fourth note (f sharp) out of the scale. There are four packs with lots of recordings in them, strums, plucks, short improvisations. "short melodic statements" are 1-2 bars. "riffs" are 2-4 bars. "melodies" are about 30 seconds and "runs and flutters" speaks for itself. There is recording of tuning up the swarmandal in the melodies pack. The snippets were taken from recordings done on three different days so you may notice a slight difference in volume and background noise. A couple of the recordings have some ambient noise (bird tweets, wind chimes,)some of the melodies are based around a similar theme but have enough variation to be interesting/useful. It's recording of a passenger train's on duty. You can hear the train's motors, the wheels rumbling against the rails, the wagon connectors hitting each other, when the train stops also people chatting. Near the end of the recording the room acoustics change, because a woman entered the area between wagons where i was standing with my recorded pointed down. I was standing in a narrow passage, where two wagons were joined, between two closed slide-doors. She have opened those so the overall sound has radically changed and i decided to end the recording. Through the entire recording the unit is moving forward, decelerating, stopping, staring and accelerating again repeatedly as it travels stopping at several stations. The recording was done with a hand-held zoom h2. Rear mics used pointed to the ground. I was in the loudest area in the whole train. I was using "low" gain (h2 has three mic gain levels to choose from: l/m/h). Viewed and converted to flac using audacity, the file hasn't been altered in any other way. Originally recorded as a 96khz/24-bit stereo wav file.
