A collection of sounds, recorded at the fast-food parking lot. An uncommonly-warm day in the great north, the window was partway down so there is an outdoor ambient background. Straw is unwrapped and stuffed through the plastic lid of a drink, making its characteristic shriek. Remembering when as kids, four of us would sit around a table before the age of masking, and work the straws in the lids to generate a racket, i did that. This could be used as a cartoon-ish engine start failure, sounds like an old fiat. Then the crunching of a paper bag as a decadent burger is extracted.

A scary tune i did in garageband for something called victors crypt. I made the beat first and added a weird bass-line. On top of that i added the words "i'm shaking, so scared" along with some violins and anxious sounds. Would suit fine for anything creepy. Feel free to use it as long as you give me the credit for it/write me as composer. And subscribe to and watch my channel :). Be cool and subscribe to victors crypt on youtube. Https://youtube. These are claps recorded by three people at the same time. The kind of soft but very fast clapping that you would put in a spanish flamenco song or (as it was the case for the session) an argentine folklore song (chacarera). Soft clap — very tight, soft hitshard clap — tight, hard hit. Soft group — a little less tight, sounds like many people, still softhard group — less tight, many people, hard hit. Soft supergroup — i put three takes of this at the same time (one l, one center, one r), some hits sounded better than others so i picked the ones that sounded the best. Soft hits. Hard supergroup — same three takes put together. Hard hits.

I won't claim that this is a ghost as i am sure many would debunk, only that i believe it to be. This is an evp i found during playback for something else i recorded in audacity with a usb condenser mic. This happens a lot and i have quite a few. It sounds to me like a voice that is not mine is saying "watch" i cleaned it up as much as i could but this was barely audible originally so i had to bring up the volume a lot which made the noise floor pretty loud. I did some noise reduction to make it sound cleaner. I have personally had experiences that i believe to be supernatural but decide for yourself as you listen or use it as make believe. I have more i will upload when i can including ones from places that have been researched and said to be haunted (taken on my phone). I have to find them but as i come across them or new ones i will share. No need to credit me, i am just sharing this for fun. It creeps me out, and gives me chills so hopefully it does the same for you mwuah hahahahaha! enjoy ;). This is my recreation of the noise in the background of a video shot on a consumer grade minidv camcorder (a well used one). I haven't had a minidv camcorder on hand for a few years and nobody i knew would give me a recording of just tape motor noise so i went to create the noise myself. This sound is a combination of a very badly pressed dvd in my computer's drive mixed with a tone made in audacity (up one octave from the tone that the disc ended up creating), all mixed down and brought down in volume. I know it's not a prefect recreation, but i don't have a minidv camcorder on hand so this is about as good as i can get it. If anyone has access to an anechoic chamber, a fresh tape, and a well used consumer grade minidv camcorder, please get in touch with me. I'd like the real deal better than my recreation that i did in my spare time. Note on recreating the noise out of hdv camcorders. They have slightly different hardware and as such will create different bearing noise (most times, there's an extra whine on top of the familiar bearing whine heard from standard dv camcorders). I forget the exact frequency, but it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 840hz-860hz and it's a sort of sine wave, but a modest bit more jagged. You'll have to provide your own stock camcorder mic hiss as each camcorder is different (not for definite sure on sony camcorders, but canon camcorders have a pink-ish white noise in about that era).

This sound is a superposition of two records. First, i recorded a coffee machine and cut it to extract just the sound of the money that falls in. Then, i recorded the sound of keys and mix it together on audacity. I wanted to make a sound that can be repeated in a loop. So, i copied the record of the coffee machine to give a rhythm to the sound. I tried to cut the sound of the key perfectly to make a loop with the help of the option “search for crosses with zero”. Then, i added view effects. I have changed the amplification in purpose to bring out more the sound of the coffee machine. I also change the reverberation. Gradually, my sound made me think of a music in a video game that i used to play, rayman. It was difficult to describe what the sound was like, but i liked the atmosphere, so i kept it. Then, a friend told me it made him think of a frog noise, and i liked the idea.

Just a basic single wave form sample from a real roland jp-8080 saw wave in the key of g. Used in making an epic super saw and super arp for these youtube tutorials and project:. Part 1: https://www. Youtube. Com/watch?v=byd_yirefiipart 2: https://www. Youtube. Com/watch?v=wruzgwtmvuqfull ableton project here: http://blnd. Io/1aodggb. The sample is tuned to the key of g, you will have to make sure that the sample is set to the key of c or transpose up 5 semitones. I correct this in the new template update; so that all chords and arps are in sync w/ the correct key.

I was surprised this still worked. This is an old ibm selectric ii typewriter, with correcting tape, the “quieter” selectric at the time. It’s about 80 pounds, a real back-breaker. The carriage return bell is broken, unfortunately, so the best you might hear it is rattling due to the belt vibration. Recorded with a tascam dr-05, without the low-cut since i wanted a beefy sound. Placed direcly above the roller, about 12 inches away. I swapped the channels in audacity to match perception & sampled down to 48khz. Description: i roll in some paper, type a few paragraphs from some copy, and roll it out when i’m done. Man, can you type fast on these machines!.

A recording i made in may of 2013 as i was trying to get a good recording of the wonderful wood thrush recorded. You can still faintly hear the wood thrush in the background, but the nice surprise on this recording is the very clear, bubbling, trilling call of a proud little chipping sparrow. This recording was carefully made using my homemade parabolic reflector microphone. (*using my trusty rode ntg-2), and going into my handy zoom h4n recorder. I wanted to get as accurate a recording as possible so i bumped up the bit rate to 96 kpbs. I know it makes for a larger file, but i think it is worth it.

Any thursday, 12:00 am more or less. I was sitting down in a bench, looking to the buildings opposite me, with the road at my back. My handy recorder zoom h4n in my hands. Some people was chatting next to a car and then they got inside and they left (you can hear that on the left channel. Got it? "left" channel :d). You can hear people passing from one channel to another, cars and motorbikes. It was in c/ bravo murillo (madrid, spain). In that part, it is a one way street for vehicles, so all of them go from right to left channel.

I tried to get a surround recording using mics, but there was a horrible street musician playing off in the distance. I thought it wouldn't be clear in the recording, but one of the mics picked him up quite well. The recording was ruined, so i did a little processing at home and came up with this freaky bit for your listening pleasure. Not sure if it's usable beyond listening, tho. . .

This is a short wavefile of really bad drums and a crying baby. To be used properly, it needs to be turned way up. This sound has a story behind it - i made this up for one purpose, and one purpose only - to temporarily blast my long-term loud neighbors into realizing that 'they' are now the victims. They "were" relentless at playing loud music continuously, and it was a hot humid day,no air-con, and i had a lot of wine. That's all it took - so i blasted them(at an amazing close range)with 200+ watts of drums'n'babies, just long enough for them to figure out that this just might continue, and that it isn't a nice sound. Bottom line - the technique was highly effective.

Alien xxx sent me a “cross modulation challenge”. I have tried to be true to his idea, but added automation, so to speak. Oscillator1 is constantly fm-modulating oscillator2. I vary the frequency of oscillator1 with an lfo. The output of oscillator1 is sent to a) left audio channel and b) in to oscillator2. The output of oscillator2 is fed to oscillator1. The degree of cross fm modulation is controlled by a vca controlled by another lfo. The output of oscillator2 is also sent to right audio channel. As i’m writing this i have just made a theoretical patch on a piece of paper. The result is what you hear. No effects added. Straight out of the modular for better or worse.

Fireworks- recording fireworks is really strange. There are two distinct things going on with fireworks- the sound of the explosion, and the powerful physical impact our bodies feel when all that sound energy reaches us. Thing is, the mics don’t have any way of capturing that physical impact; they can only record the pop sound of the initial explosion. So what ends up on tape? honestly, it doesn’t sound much different than popping popcorn in your kitchen. Even with my good mics, i think i had to boost the low end a little bit in this recording to make it actually sound more like fireworks than popcorn. But judge for yourself. A slinky spring toy stretched out and plucked once from the end, recorded with a zeppelin design labs cortado impedance-matched piezo contact microphone. The resulting recording is a classic spring-based sci-fi "laser sound" with a massive, lengthy, rumbling decay tail. This was recorded at 24 bit 96 khz. In addition to its use as a sound effect, this waveform works well inside a convolution reverb as an offbeat spring reverb impulse response, provided one has the processor power and ram to support a 2 minute 13 second convolution. The cortado's bass response is exceptionally large for a contact mic, so high pass filtering may be desired if used as an impulse response.

This if a sound i made a while ago. Sort of sloppy, yes, but i like it, and i hope you do, too. I do appologize for the back noise on the background music. And, yes! that is me doing the narration after a bit of vocal processing. (those screaming guys around -00:22:348 are not me. I love that part!) you can download that background song for free by clicking this link: http://www. Incompetech. Com/m/c/royalty-free/index. Html?keywords=truth+of+the+legend. Wind can sometimes play havoc with recording --- but, with some luck you can get good wind recordings. Here is a recording of lake waves lapping at the short of a small lake in southern illinois. This particular day, the winds were blowing steady out of the south at 25 miles an hour, with gusts even higher. Recording made with my trusted zoom h4n recorder, using its built-in microphones. Of course a foam wind-screen made this recording listenable. Without the foam wind-screen the recording would simply have been an obnoxious, unintelligable roar!also, since the waves were so loud to begin with, i did not have to crank the recording gain real high -- i had the gain only on 65 for this recording. .

A nice ambient recording made on sunday morning may 5th 2013 around 6:30 in the morning in the shawnee national forest in deep southern illinois. I had originally wanted to get good, clear recordings of the tremendous numbers of warblers that are here, but a good, soaking steady light rain decided to stick around. I though, what the heck, that is a part of our natural world also, so let's get it all "on tape". . . . Hope you enjoy this. Recording made with my handy zoom h4n recording utilizing its built-in microphones. To keep as much water off of my h4n as possible, i put one of my big, furry, knitted insulated sock-cap over the recorder, that at least kept my recorder from swimming in water.

Sometimes i regret being so stubborn, only using analog modules in my modular. How easy it should have been creating cool rhythms for the drums with a digitalclock generator or having a nice wave table oscillator etc. . . . Today, i admit, i once again was looking at a digital clockgenerator. How would care!?same sequence as in electronic minute no 105, but slower. And i have added someeasy modular analog. . . . Drums and a bonus sound. Play with it. In the end the drums are alone!the wav-file is raw! no editing at all. Yes i should record via my h1. . . But it'sso easy to use the mic in on my laptop.

Lazer sound. I made this lazer sound with the use of operator in ableton as well as adding a few effects to help round it out. I started with a basic sine wave and then began to adjust the frequency range to cut out some of the low end of the sound and enhance the high end to make it more realistic and movie accurate. I also had to shorten the decay time so it is more of a short zap sound than a prolonged note. Another step was giving it an initial high pitched sound and this was achieved by having the sound start higher up the scale with semitones and then dropping down giving the effect of shooting and something traveling from the source sound.

I uploaded this after i finish my job (for scoring a music and additional foley/sfx) and by the time for cleaning, i found some of them were not used, were not even reviewed. I have several unused items. As i have benefited several times from this website, it's time to give back. Why not. This was recorded in my home studio, using my condenser microphone, the isk u99 (neumann knock-off, so the seller and a friend said to me; i wouldn't know however. ) powered by apogee duet preamp and simple shock-mount, i hope this recording clean enough for many uses. I recorded in close proximity, hence the high frequency a bit harsh. No edit. No effect. Cheers.

A soft and subtle, unedited sound recording from my studio in leeds. On the top floor of my terraced house, i have a large window that opens out onto a quiet street in north leeds. A school is nearby, so there are some elements of children screaming, but overall you get a nice wash of bird song, quiet car sounds and mild wind. This recording would be excellent for atmospheric sound for film, tv or whatever else. Feel free to use this sample and contact me if you want some extended recordings as i'm planning on recording a few more field studies from my area, which is lovely and removed from the main city.

This sound is produced by one of the eye tracker experiments at cbc (upf). These experiments are oriented to newborns and it analyzes their brain cognition by stimuli. As researchers of the center for brain and cognition, we work to advance our understanding of how experience influences the emergence of structure and function through computational and experimental investigation. We are also interested in understanding how mechanisms regulating brain development interact with the effects of experience to produce the structural and functional characteristics of the brain. I really enjoyed exetone studio's recording of a bell found here - https://freesound. Org/people/exotonestudio/sounds/416992/. I took this sample into melodyne and moved all of its frequencies into "c" range. This gets rid of harmonics and makes the sample well-suited to use as a musical instrument. I prefer the original sample for some purposes. Unprocessed, it has a richer sound. And i also truncated to get rid of a tricky bit i couldn't fix. And i combined stereo tracks into mono, since that works better for an instrument where one wants to control panning inside of a composition. So as a pure sound effect, i recommend the original. This version is just useful as an instrument.

(recorder: zoomh4npro 2018)(microphones: binaural roland cs-10em in-ear monitors). As these are recorded using binaural in-ear mics, i purposefully don't turn my head to keep the sound clean and coming from the same direction. This was recorded in the burbank town center food-court area. I was careful to avoid specific conversation for legal purposes. There was a cranky baby nearby, so you get an occasional frantic cry. This would be perfect for any project taking place in a large, public center with a tile or stone floor and lots of movement. Enjoy,. Christopher c. Courter.

The sound of a construction worker operating a concrete road saw on a rainy day is heard in this recording. The recording begins with the saw already in operation, then is shut off and shortly restarted. He makes a couple of passes on the section of road he is working on and turns the machine off. A nearby siren is also heard at the end, so the shutdown at the head can be used as an alternative. Gear: zoom h6, xyh-6 x/y capsule (120 degree stereo image), rycote windjammer. Please feel free to leave feedback and ratings. I would love to hear how you put the sound to work.

Xy stereo recording from gärdet subway station in stockholm. This focuses on an older trains doors, various steams and similar "heavy" sound elements. In post: edited in pro tools with som bass cutting (eq) and automation to make some sounds stand out but still sound realistic. Put on a light compressor and pich-shifted down some elements to give more depth. This was in someway inspired by "dead space" tram and door sounds but slightly less "massive" and haunting. Ps. There's 2 versions of this recording. The one with "nr" in the title is noise reduced so sounds like the doors and steam are somewhat separated from the background. Hope you like it.

Tiny waves lapping the quartzite pebbles (1-2cm diameter) on a beach at lake pedder. Recorded 21 march 2019, 3am, with marantz pmd661 and rode nt55. Exceptionally quiet night, no wind, no other sounds. The gordon river power station was 20 kms distant. Other mechanical equipment or vehicles greater then 50 kms. I could just perceive the electrical hum from the station (or from transmission lines), and so could my partner, but i can’t hear it on the recording. At 1. 30 on the recording you can hear my partner’s soft cough coming from our tent 50m away. The crackles that sound like static come from the quartzite pebbles as they are moved around by the tiny waves. See also "tiny waves lapping #2".

The sequences are intended to be heard on a computer sound card, and do not include system exclusive messages or controllers other than volume, pan, reverb and chorus. They are all in the public domain. That is, they are no-one's intellectual property: they may be freely copied, adapted, tinkered with and, I hope, surpassed by others.

The Glory of the Yankee Navy performed by the USMC Band. March, “The Glory of the Yankee Navy" (1909) - The musical comedy The Yankee Girl was in need of a spirited march, so Sousa was prevailed upon to provide one. The march, one of Sousa’s most interesting musically, was dedicated to the star of the show, Blanche Ring. Lyrics were provided by Kenneth S. Clark. The title underwent a process of evolution. The earliest known manuscript was labeled “Uncle Sam’s Navy.” Prior to the opening, newspapers referred to the march as “The Honor of the Yankee Navy.”

Short recording of 120 people (no kids) in large hall (church) before a concert. People talk and chat and laugh sometimes. More and more people come in during the recording. At the end the public becomes quiet. Recorded so that it's not clear what language the people talk (high position of the mic, +3. 5m). Useful as general noise track for film and video. Recorded in grote kerk, kerkstraat 20, in 's-hertogenbosch hollandrode nt4 > sony pcm d50 recorded. No editing. Public domain. Long recording (30 minutes): http://www. Freesound. This recording was made in the afternoon during a rainshower under my carport in louisiana. The rain is striking three different surfaces in this track: cement, roofing and plantlife. Now, i'm no pro, nor is my equipment (olympus ws-310m w/ built in mic), so discerning these different sounds is difficult. You can hear the dripping from rain: fast drip in the background of this track. However slight, there is also a noticeable electronic note which is simultaneous with the water striking these surfaces. You can also hear slight rustling sounds that could be wind or my shirt moving near the mic (i was wearing the device on a lanyard). The file is wav, recorded in stereo at 16 bit at 44. 1mhz.

This lovely little toy piano has been a member of my parent’s home since before i can remember. These days it falls under the jurisdiction of my 4-year old niece, who was ever so kind as to allow me to record it!. It has a fabulous tinkling and out-of-tune carnival sort of sound, and i wanted to capture that before the piano was destroyed altogether. I have editing the original recordings and built a kontakt instrument with them, available for free on my website at www. Framingnoise. Com. Enjoy! and if you want to send me a link to what you’ve done with the piano in the comments below, i surely would love to hear it :).

I was demoing the new digital performer 10. 1 with a royer r-10 pair in blumlein array but wanted to check out one of the ribbons because it possibly sounded blown so i went ahead not bothering to create a new mono file. The mic was tracked through a yamaha mixer into digital performer via a motu 624. I have various cymbals including a paiste hi-hat and a zildjian ride which i bowed or scraped. There is an occasional tiny bit of noise from the hard drive, sorry. It has the hiccups. Some of these have an effect or two like a flange on one or more and a bit of delay but mostly you just hear the marvelous and very interesting cymbals!.
