Set computer volume level at normal. Using headphones or your speakers, play each tone, gradually decreasing the volume until you cannot detect it. Note the volume setting (i know, this isn't easy if you don't have a graduated control, but you can make some arbitrary levels using whatever indicator you have on your os). Repeat with next tone. I simply generated a risset drum in audacity with all the default settings, except the frequency is 50. A really powerful sound, but only if you have a good sub woofer.

This is what background noise sounds like when you, first set your recording to automatically reduce noise, except to get this sound, put mic on sensitive, then increase the volume. Voila! computer noise!.

The interference produced at the low (left) end of the radio dial on a jambox set up close to a dvd burner while in operation. Sound rises and falls as the burner writes to disc.

Small flask stuck in a mug which i dropped on the floor. Interesting sound which i then recorded three times slightly different microphone settings. Used swissonic digital recorder with stereo mics.

This is the sound of setting a ceramic mug on the metal plate of a keurig coffee maker, hitting "brew" and letting it do its magic. Recorded with a boom microphone onto a p2 card via a panasonic hvx200 digital video camera.

I made this with my keyboard and some pre-set synths on garageband. I think it has a really video game vibe to it, almost like something from system shock or half-life or something like that.
