I thought i had a diy contact mic somewhere, but i did not find it. But i found another thing. A contact mic for an instrument tuner. But (again) it had a 1/4 inch mono plug. That meant i could not connect it to my computer mic in. But (i know) what if i plug it in to my modular synth. Surprise. . . Then i could add a little filter, pan and spring reverb. So clamped the mic on to my external 3,5 inch disc drive and recorded. This is my submission to dare 51.

Recorded a basic drum and muted guitar loop at 105-bpm using ableton live 9. 4 notes per bar played on guitar in this order: d a c a. Drums are kontakt player "urban beats" default setting. Guitar is a single coil telecaster playing thru a reverb pedal (shift line's astronaut a+) and mic'd up w/ a ldc. Additional notes:-14. 8 lufs integrated-1. 8 db true peak max. This jump scare sound was created by playing 2 dissonant chords on a single coil telecaster mic'd up w/ a vox ac 10 amp. The two guitar tracks are panned left and right- reverb and delay are added. The delay tail you can hear oscillates between left and right speaker as it fades. Additionally, frequency enhancers were added between 4khz - 6khz which adds a higher tonal energy in the upper range of the guitar. Gain is added which can be heard as signal noise mostly at the end of the clip. Enjoy. Bainmack.

Wrote/recorded a short song about popping zits at 140 bpm in ableton live 9:kontakt player used for the formaggio string sections. My vocals were recorded with a akg 214c mic into a scarlett 18i20. Nothing fancy just get it down. Lyrics "get me now from the skin below, won't you help me out? i am stuck inside"then reverb added to vocals. I wanted to find a good creative commons 0 sound effect of fingernails scratching on a wooden surface but i could find the exact thing i was looking for. So i recorded myself scratching my bedroom door with my fingernails using a recording app on my phone and edited it in audacity to remove breathing sounds, and to make the sound feel more heavy/deep, including some very faint reverb. Since i really wanted this i thought it might be useful for someone else! i hope someone else out there like me finds this somewhat useful. Theres a bit of a clicking noise at the end - i think from the recording process.

Various sound effects from children's toys edited together. All are on a low quality speaker, but are usually unique. All spoken word sounds as well as specific things like laughs or animal sounds are in different sounds. They range from real sounds like cowbells and car horns to blings and ascending synth sounding noises for a correct answer. (some tags describe one or two sounds in a long list, so listen to all of them if you're looking for something specific).

Third in a series of 3 consecutive recordings of the sound of summer birdsong in a suburban english setting. This one prominently features the sound of water flushing through an outside kitchen drain into an alleyway. Common suburban evening birdsong can be heard clearly throughout with distant traffic noise in the background. Recorded on a summer evening in june 2016 in southern england using a rode nt-4 microphone in a rycote lyre shock mount, marantz pmd661 and edited using adobe audition.

Got a group of about 8 people to say "hey!" a few times. Layered all the takes, compressed, and added a touch of reverb. I've used this one a bunch in my own songs. Sometimes, to achieve a convincing gang vocal effect, when i don't have a gang, you can sing your line a few times, and then layer this "hey" under each syllable, and you can get a pseudo-gang vocal. Works in a pinch if your mix is dense enough. I'd love if you'd credit joshua scott or rjc studios if you use this sample, but don't sweat it if you don't. Good artists borrow, great artists steal.

Inspired by amliebsch's "voice from hell" sound, i decided to take a crack at making something similar. This was made with my own voice. If you want to know what it's saying, it's:. Recording of a door being opened and closed, and then opened and closed again. Very slight footsteps (on carpet) can be heard. The microphone (sennheiser mkh-50) was intentionally placed about 5 feet away from the door so as to capture some of the natural room sound/reverb (which is very subtle). I have another recording available of the exact same door and mic setup, but aimed slightly off-axis to capture just a bit more room sound. Recorded into a tascam 208i audio interface and into adobe audition. Very minor processing (low-cut at 80hz to remove low-freq rumble).

It's a recording of a man operating a chainsaw in a forest near an underground repair station. I've been biking through the forest whe i heard the chainsaw, so i stopped and recorded 7 minutes of him cutting off branches, tembers and walking around a bit. You can heat the chainsaw, natural forest reverb, sometimes a plane flying by or an undergroud train. The recording was made from around 20~30 meters from the sound source. Recorded with a zoom h2 (rear mics, hi gain, 96/24). Originally a 96khz / 24-bit wav file. Converted to flac using audacity.

This is an instrumental bit i made in garageband for something called victors crypt. It's basically 2 acoustic guitars with piano, flute and a synth over it. A horrible sound for a contest, created by paulstretching the sound of an old photo-slide scanner six times, then slowly layering it on top of itself up by a semitone every second and adding reverb. Sound of footsteps (hiking boots) in an artificial stone tunnel about 4 to 5 metres in diameter in brezzo di bedero (northern italy). The tunnel is part of the structures of the 'cadorna' defence line, dating back to wwi, and leads to an artillery emplacement in a cave. Sound of footsteps and crunching gravel under the soles, with a slight echo and reverberation from the cave environment. Perfect for creating eerie, natural and industrial backgrounds and first-person vr experiences. Recorded with a zoom h1n held in hand while walking and pointed towards the feet.

One explosion sound i created using wavepad sound editor, adobe audition 3 and my high quality microphone. Sounds used to get this explosion, in case you want to replicate it;. -kicked rocks (recorded by me)-throwing rocks from a distance (recorded by me)-edited and stretched beer hiss (recorded by me)-edited chambagne pop sound (recorded by me)-rocket hiss (replica by me). Applied effects;. Mastering (in adobe audition 3), increased "exciter" up to 11. 5%. High-pass filter (in adobe audition 3). Stretch (in adobe audition 3), in "high precision" mode. Sound recording of a two tier mini waterfall into my small fish pond. Recorded with a tascam dr-07 mk ii. 24 bit, 44. 1 khz, stereo. First 10 seconds is the raw recording. Note the 60 hz hum due to the water pump being just under the water fall splash area. The last 20 seconds is the processed audio using ableton live 8 affects rack and the following affects. 1. Notch filter – 60 hz applied two times. 2. Lp filter –knee at 1 khz3. Hp filter-knee at about 3. 2 khz4. Granular delay – bubbling sound5. Chorus audio effect-snap, crackly sound. 6. Reverb-cave echo affect-high wet/dry7. Utility- for stereo width.

A suspenseful riser made from a wet mix of a rate-shifted bed frame being hitted and reversed after it has been "glued" or rendered as is, producing a deep, "mega-marvin" similar sample. A sample that was created from utilizing chromatic tones, stretching, reverb and the use of the wet/dry filtering to get the mix "just right". If you aren't aware of what the mega-marvin is. Mega-marvins are essentially instruments containing extremely heavy string, woodwind and varying density of materials that generate strong noises, trailing ambiances and brass-like sound qualities quite suited to the horror genre, generating a daunting and sorrowful sounds. Very fascinating stuff, look it up if you can - they're big and quite technical.

For free use. This is file for creating deep ambiance. Just mix that sound with other ambiance sound (on free sound there is at least a million such sounds. . . Like noice. . Like thunder rain. . . Like station. . . Like people tallk and so far. . . ). It works best with noises or other deep sounds. I think if you add a little bit of that sound to other audio file you can get very spezial sound for ambiante. I will add similar sound as a only vocal too.
