Lighter sounds captured for the mct - physical computing subject. It was capture with a small speaker as the input, capturing the sound of an empty lighter. The small speaker was plugged by alligator clamps in a 9v battery. After that i've processed the sounds a bit with a pinch of reverb, delay and some compression.

Experiment to determine the point at which a physical response will occur, and if before the subject realizes there is a stimulus. In this instance it was instantaneous. Life is good.

Fireworks- recording fireworks is really strange. There are two distinct things going on with fireworks- the sound of the explosion, and the powerful physical impact our bodies feel when all that sound energy reaches us. Thing is, the mics don’t have any way of capturing that physical impact; they can only record the pop sound of the initial explosion. So what ends up on tape? honestly, it doesn’t sound much different than popping popcorn in your kitchen. Even with my good mics, i think i had to boost the low end a little bit in this recording to make it actually sound more like fireworks than popcorn. But judge for yourself. I used made up words and a made up melody to create a sad, wistful, ethereal sounding song. Towards the end, the character is dying so the breath gets more halted and i was hoping people could hear the physical and mental pain. There is a lightness and sadness about it. I hope you like it!.

One of the most haunting sounds that i have ever captured. I got on the bus one day and didn't notice anyone on there when i sat down, and then a few moments later, i started hearing this sound. I was confused as to what to do. Do i turn around and look at this laugh-er in the face? what would a person laughing like this do to me if i looked at them? how could a person even laugh like this? it doesn't sound physically possible. As more and more people got on the bus, i saw nobody looking in his direction either. Am i maybe imagining this sound? is there a tiny many laughing in my head?. Upon leaving the bus, i looked back and couldn't tell who must have made the sound, but regardless, it still literally shakes me a bit hearing this audio. . . . Recorded with an android phone and edited in audacity.
