This is a recording of the bat colony, or roost, that is situated in the centre of bellingen new south wales australia. The roost is next to the bellingen river in on of the last remaining patches of low altitude rainforest in the region. Recorded using tascam pro dat with akg ck 98 shotgun microphone with p12-48 pre-amp, also known as akg se300b.

Breathing through a 1. 5 metre didgeridoo to obtain a dramatic sound. Pitch and re verb were used for more effect. Bit rate 288kbps. Ngwave pc software. Sennheiser shotgun microphone. For the recording, i used the tree-ear method, holding the microphones on either side of a tree, which results in a very wide stereo field (considering the capsules are omni). It was recorded in my backyard on a winter day which was actually more like a spring day.
