These are the ambient sounds of a sailboat underway. You hear the sounds of wind-filled sails, the tugs on line, and boat parts movement as the boat is moving through the water under a steady wind. You can hear when the boat changes direction from being close hauled to more down wind. The zoom h4n digital recorder was used in collecting this sound. Enjoy.

Busy street in tokyo during the evening rush hour. I placed a pair of mics at 120 degrees between 2 stop lights on a busy street. There are 3 distinct "waves" of traffic let through the lights and all our recorded well. The panning is quite dramatic, so you really get a sense of movement.

Recording taken from a train at about 20 feet away. It was very windy, so consequently, the majority of the track was very much ruined. There is a small click near half-way, caused by a brief release of steam. It might prove annoying if you are planning on looping it. There is also not an even right/left balance throughout, due to my movement to avoid the wind.

Skates on ice: here is a very specific sound effect. The metallic slash through ice when it is being skated on. There are multiple variations of this in this track due to the amount of contact the blade of the skate has to the ice and also the force being put into the movement. It is a sharp and cold sound. Recorded with the zoom h6, rode ntg.

I was recording wind that blows in my window, but the zoom h2 placed on a (cheap) mic stand after some time started to bend itself downwards. It hit the curtain/drape in my window and rubbed itself against it until reached the lowest position - the mic stands arm stopped gently as it started. This produced a very interesting sound that i totally didn't expect to find on the recording. Edited with audacity.

I connected a pair of contact microphones to different parts of a metal fence and let the wind do the rest. Starts off gently and gradually the intensity increases as the wind picks up. Waves coming onto the shore at dunwich in suffolk, uk. This is the north sea. There are people (and a dog) on the beach. The beach is a mixture of sand and stone, with stones being piled up further from the sea and soft sand with some stones at the edge of the water. The movement of stones can be heard, as can a young child and others. This was recorded with a sennheiser me66/k6 attached to a zoom h5. No editing.

I recorded this sound with the microphone from the logitech quickcam for notebooks pro. I know, the webcam is really old but i happened to find it from my brothers room and used it for a microphone replacement. You may say it distorts a lot, but that's just because the original setting of level is 50+ db. Now onto the topic.
