One of a series of heavily processed sounds of me ripping various objects off a sticky surface. I ran the original recordings through s-layer, the sample-mangling plugin from twisted tools, combining and mulching everything into new, dynamic sounds with lots of movement and texture.

These are the ambient sounds of a sailboat underway. You hear the sounds of wind-filled sails, the tugs on line, and boat parts movement as the boat is moving through the water under a steady wind. You can hear when the boat changes direction from being close hauled to more down wind. The zoom h4n digital recorder was used in collecting this sound. Enjoy.

This is a very lowfi recording of a xerox workcentre 7345 in a very small room being switched on from standby and initializing, including some button presses with beeps, mechanical movement sounds and motors. The bitrate is only 13 kbit/s and the resulting audio quality not very good, but the file size is really small. Maybe audio level needs normalizing, though.

Recording taken from a train at about 20 feet away. It was very windy, so consequently, the majority of the track was very much ruined. There is a small click near half-way, caused by a brief release of steam. It might prove annoying if you are planning on looping it. There is also not an even right/left balance throughout, due to my movement to avoid the wind.

Sound created using the wooden rod inside of my coat closet, and recorded on a zoom h2 recorder. This effect was used to create a sort of dungeon ambiance in a musical track. A decent down some steps, some creepy creaking, a little chain movement action, and it all seemed to fit ok. Check it out here: first trackhttps://brookinthebirchwood. Bandcamp. I was recording wind that blows in my window, but the zoom h2 placed on a (cheap) mic stand after some time started to bend itself downwards. It hit the curtain/drape in my window and rubbed itself against it until reached the lowest position - the mic stands arm stopped gently as it started. This produced a very interesting sound that i totally didn't expect to find on the recording. Edited with audacity.

An ice storm moves in to the deep woods of north carolina on 01/30/2014. As the small particles of ice and sleet fall through the pine trees, they land on a bed of pine straw on the ground below. This is that sound. It's cold, solitary, and gives you a feeling of total isolation. Enjoy!. Christopher c. Courter.
