This is the sound of cold winter wind finding its way through the gaps in our living room window. The recording has been edited to remove long stretches of silence, and has had some light noise reduction applied. The noise floor is still quite high though, so maybe best to put this one fairly low in the mix. Recorded using a zoom h2 with its rear mics activated.

A small park in higashi-koenji, tokyo at dusk. There are some university aged kids drinking and smoking in the background. I wanted to record the fountain sound as well, but the fountain had already been turned off. You can hear some bird, rustling of the wind in the trees and traffic in the distance. I recorded a viola for a theatre project. I recorded it in a dry room, close mic with a neumann tlm103. Some samples are just noises of the bow on the c or d string, then once in a while creating overtones, other samples contain some processing with echoboy by soundtoys. Amazing plugins they make!. Inspired by ben croshaw's point 'n' click horror adventure games, i decided i'd try and see if i can make my own creepy whispers using audacity. This is basically some whispered lines and some really low-volume screams superimposed on one another, with some of these lines reversed. I made this on march 2012 and was recorded on my netbook's slightly damaged built-in mic.

While the language spoken in the clip is slovak, it's impossible to pick out any indivdiual conversations, so this could be used as background noise in any project. This is a field recording from inside the "experience gallery" of the musical instrument museum (phoenix, arizona). The experience gallery is full of gongs, bells, drums, gamelan instruments, stringed instruments, marimbas, xylophones, and even a theremin. A schoolgroup of children were let loose at the time of this recording. Recorded in stereo with a sony pcm-d50 (onboard mics, wide pattern) while in motion.

Recording of my own fireplace made with a tascam dr-40 (internal mics). I blasted up the lower freqs, kept the mid-range close to 0, then from 5-16 khz went back way up, slowly tapering down to below zero for the highest frequencies. All editing done in audacity, compressed using soundkonverter in linux. This is a good sound effect for either a bonfire or a house burning down, which is what i made it for.

Been downloading off this site for ages and thought i'd give something i recorded back. I drank from a glass bottle by a mic to recreate a character in a film drinking some beer from a glass bottle. A small sound but in those quiet scenes i think noises like this make all the difference. Done on my olympus dm5 recorder that i use for last minute foley. Hooray i'm finally on here!.

Capoeira mestre calango was nice enough to do a couple of short recordings on the berimbau for me. A berimbau is a one stringed instrument with the string made from the inside liner of a truck tire, it has a claxia(sp?) a shaker with it and is modulated by placing the gourd against the stomach and removing it. Done with hdp2 and two sennheiser mics 66 67, was in 24 bit 96khz, downconverted to 16b at 44. 1, a relatively clean recording at a very high level.
