I recorded the sound of my wooden, squeaky screen door opening and then bouncing shut with a couple bangs. You can hear the squeak of the hinges as the door is opened, then again as it starts to close. The stretching and retraction of the spring is slightly noticeable. The door bounces a couple times as it closes, and you can also hear the latch rattling at this time. Recorded with audacity on my computer using a cheap, hand-held piezo mic. Most are done on snare and then again on a single tom, easily looped for duration. They have no verb on them so you can add as you desire for your space. Me squeezing a crumpled bag of doritos, recorded with an sm57 going into an m-audio mobilepre usb audio interface. I recorded this because i needed a good rubber stretching sound, but couldn't find one that looped well. When i crumpled the bag up to throw it away, i realized it kind of sounds like what i wanted, and with some eqing and clever layering i could get a sound that's pretty close to what i wanted. I've uploaded the final result under my "processed sounds" pack, but here are the raw sounds for you to use, completely unprocessed. I've left some silence/noise at the beginning/end of these so that you can easily remove the noise if you so choose.

When the two are mixed, we hear a heterodyning between the external receiver and the transmitter monitor audio sources. By adjusting the receiver's frequency to that of the transmitted signal, we can zero-beat the two audio sources together producing a "flange" effect derived from analog devices. What i find unique about this recording is a lone cricket calling out at various times of this recording. . . Makes for a nice, almost melancholy feeling. It is almost like the cricket is not quite ready to hide away for the winter and is taking advantage of a rare 70-degree november day to call out as if to say "hey, i'm still here, waiting. . . In the grass. ". With headphones on, works wonders in clearing your head. . . I found this fairly small low area, in deep woods, with about 5 inches of water in it. I wouldn't really say it is a pond because it will probably be dry in a month or so after the spring rains. (i think ecologists would call this small body of water an "ephemeral" pond). These spring peepers were putting on quite a chorus as the sun was going down. You'll hear a different sounding frog - or peeper - several times in: at 9 seconds in, 13 seconds in and 15 seconds in. When i first heard it, it sounded like a creaky door! hope you find this fascinating and enjoyable as well. Would make a great soundtrack for a swampy piece. This is from a recording session trying to create laser weapon sounds. I just used the same technique as ben burtt used in wall-e (with the slinky and the contact mic). This is unprocessed, no eqs, compression, reverb or anything was added. I used a long piece of curled up aluminum wire which i hung from a tall structure at my house and the main object i used to oscillate the wire was a drum stick. For the recording i used the blue icicle and recorded into reaper. The contact mic is my own creation from a diy i found online (roughly €5 to make). This recording was made on a warm, clear day in early june right on the sandy bank of the mississippi river -- between illinois and missouri. You hear the low, strong surge of the diesel engines as a barge slowly passes through and, what i find most enjoyable, you hear the gentle lapping of the river as the waves reach the sandy shore. You also hear various birds, including the common red-winged blackbird. Even though this recording was made around 3pm in the afternoon, you also hear a low chorus of insects adding to the relaxing summer-like ambience. Plane- it’s difficult to get good recordings of planes taking off these days. There’s always major streets or highways close by which results in a bunch of unwanted traffic noise. It’s difficult to find a good vantage point to set up because there’s hardly any public parking with unobstructed sight lines (or in my case hearing lines) to the planes. Plus, with all the extra security measures in place these days, how suspicious would i look setting up a laptop andsome cables and some other electronic equipment in the general area of the runway?but i managed to get this recording. It’s not spectacular, but it’s ok. There’s some worker truck at the end of it which gets in the way, but doesn’t ruin it. On an even night of april 2018, in a huge temple in bangkok -none of the famous ones-, i went to crash funerals -i truly recommend do this; people is very nice and the spectacle it's just amazing, you have singing, acrobatics, free food. . . This recording came from a taoist funeral -that night they have also some others in that temple -i need to find out which one, but i think it's next to sam sen subway station-, many, buddhist funerals. The soft peeps of the few remining birds, grubbing around for protein-packed insects is the soundtrack. At 5 minutes into this recording a delightful, friendly exchange between two birds as if they are saying "hey, let's help each other find food before this field is blanketed with snow at cold. ". At 7:05 in this recording a truck slowly drives by, softly crunching gravel and the driver slows down to witness this annual, melancholy autumnal change. On the other side of a line of trees was the launch pad for the towns fire work show. The mic is angled at the sky. Along with the big round booms and flat smacky booms you can also make out the swish as rockets swirl through the air. In between booms, whistles and fizzles you you can also hear the sound of the debris from the cardboard shells falling around me. Sometimes they were on fire, though you can't hear that quality in the audio. It's good for fireworks and is pretty easy to eq for more of a distant quality. This clip was made because i was looking for a strong thunderstorm sound effect for a school play. I wasn't able to find one that was strong enough for what i wanted, so this. As our planet becomes increasingly crowded, finding a quiet, natural, tranquil place to listen to pure nature becomes harder. Even in the rural area of deep southern illinois you have to really try hard to find a place where the man-made sounds aren’t everywhere. However, i found just such a place on september 9th, 2012 at the cache river state natural area. This very peaceful recording was made at around 3:00pm in a grassy field bordering a small pond. The pure, droning sound of the insects of late summer make this soundscape almost hypnotic. If you listen closely towards the middle and end of this recording, you can hear the pleasant chipping of sparrows and the not so pleasant call of a crow off in the distance.
