This is for a video game i was making, but i figured it would be a good idea to share this with everyone. This is supposed to be the sound of a wooden container being violently smashed open, such as a barrel or a box, or even possibly a wooden wall. I borrowed a few sounds from the site, tweaked a little of course, and also added some powerful white noise effects to indicate a hard smash. With some layering with twigs cracking and pieces of wood falling on the floor, i think it sounds pretty authentic. . . Or as authentic as it can get!.

Innumerable starlings have congregated in a murmuration underneath (in fact inside the fabric of) the bridge to noisily discuss the day before sleep. All the while the river laps away as an unconscious heartbeat, and is churned up by the thrum of a passing riverboat.

20 minutes field recording of eveningsounds in my backyard in belgium, springtime in 2021. At first a few chickens wander close to the microphone, your hear doves and a lot of blackbirds singing to each other. After a few minutes the chickens prepare for the night. At about 14:00 a goose flight is passing by, in the end you hear a distant plane passing and a train. Recording in stereo with a zoom h4n pro and windshield, mildly processed afterwards.

This is a large shed housing a hundred goats owned by a local cheese producer. It's an autochthonous goat breed called 'cabra palmera' (goat from la palma island). Listen to their bells. I was looking for the sound of a hot engine clicking and found just one with lots of background noises. So i decided to build it from scratch in bitwig studio and this is it. The sound starts with fast clicking slowing down. It's not perfect, you can still hear it's made from samples. But as the sound is normally used at low volume, i think i can get away with it. Feel free to add a gate and shape it even further. I may upload an updated version later.

A recording in the midwestern forest made on sunday september 27th, 2015 around 3:00pm in early autumn. At this time of the year a lot of the summer neo-tropical migrant songbirds either have left for their winter home, or, are quieting down and preparing to leave. During this transition period in early fall the woods are not as loud as, say, three weeks ago. Even the insects seem subdued. At around 12 seconds into this recording you hear the squeaky call of a tree-frog. Recording made with marantz pmd661 and two sennheiser me-66 microphones mounted on a tripod about 4 feet above the ground.

Lots of bangs, bongs, clangs and you-name-it-whats. Yesternight our theatrical trouppe had been disassembling the set; main part of it is a huge, multi-ton construction consisting of several dozens (or hundreds?) steel tubes - it looks like erecting scaffolding, but much more steady. Disassembling it is a chore even if you have 25+ people around. I have recorded the later stage: clanging tubes are dragged to the hoister in order to be brought down to the ground level and loaded into a truck. Speech is cut off (hopefully all of it). Have a good use of it.

I took my snare drum into the wonderfully echoey parking garage of my building to record the reverb. Included are samples recorded from varying distances and positions. Also included are dry versions, recorded in a living room and a super-dry elevator. When used in a production, try mixing in the heavily reverbed snares against the dry ones to fit your taste. Also the reverb snares work well mixed under even unrelated percussions to add a neat ambiance. The same goes for my "stairwell foot stomps" sample set. Recorded 24-bit stereo with a sony pcm-d50. Recording of some new year's celebrations in vienna. Captured using a clippy stereo em172 microphone and a zoom h5 handheld recorder. I positioned the microphone capsules outside the window on the left and right and then gently (almost) closed it. I setup the recorder and rolled the whole evening. A recording of my mini-fridge that i split into two components - the hum (this) and the evaporator thing that makes all the drippy sounds. I separated them so people can change the volume of each element, since i noticed with my fridge that you can only really hear the hum if you're really close, but hear the drippy sounds from quite a distance away, even if they're really quiet.
