Sometimes i feel like making weird sound things, and this is a pack full of them.

A loud, poorly maintained garbage disposal turning on and off in a residence in albuquerque, nm. It broke shortly after this recording. Zoom h5.

One note from an antique wind-up toy. Recorded with a relatively low-quality mic at a close distance; you can hear the machine of the music box churning and some faint ambient humming.

Recording from the back of a ferry boat. Sound of the water being churned up by the engine and forming a large wake behind the ferry. Sounds like splashing water.

Crew removing top layer from road in a quiet suburban street. A very large heavy machine slowly driving over the road, churning up the dirt and blows it into a large truck driving just ahead of it. Suburb of tampa florida. Recorded using zoom h4n.

Blending a smoothie. Blender goes on and off a couple of times to help churn frozen strawberries. During the blending, there is the sound of a spoon tapping on the pitcher. Recorded in mono mp3 mode on a zoom h2. The recorder then created a 2-track file (and i assume both tracks are identical). Compressed and normalized to -3. 1 db in audacity. Exported in flac mode.

It's winter on vancouver island. The heavy and frequent rains engorge the lakes & streams and they flow into the cowichan river. Engorged by seasonal precipitation this large heritage river churns into a narrow bedrock canyon, turns, and comes out of the turn charging. This is where the recording was made, at river level. Recorded in january with a zoom h1 n, audio quality 48,000 hz. Unedited.

The churning white water of a rushing river cut into a perfectly seemless loop. Recorded on location during a video shoot using in camera microphone and then later processed in my daw. It is dusk on an autumn evening on the south side of the river thames, a few feet downstream from vauxhall bridge. Innumerable starlings have congregated in a murmuration underneath (in fact inside the fabric of) the bridge to noisily discuss the day before sleep. Overhead, cars and buses thump across the bridge panels, while small groups of city workers, nurses and spies head home or for drinks. All the while the river laps away as an unconscious heartbeat, and is churned up by the thrum of a passing riverboat.
