Recently we purchased a scale from ikea, when we finally got around to using it we realized that it must be off, as i do not weigh 240 lbs. As we did not have a receipt, or the desire to drive 2 hours to return a $10 scale the only course of action left to me was to take the damn thing apart and record its insides. (what else?). I recorded and edited together around 7 and a half minutes of various configurations and performances of me making some sort of repetitive, engine-like sound. I can foresee myself using these sounds for an old-timey engine or car. Recorded with a rode ntg-3 at 96/24.

So this is an alien sci-fi ambient soundtrack that i made, it is very mysterious and spooky, reminds me of the game lost planet or the movie alien. Just like somewhere in an abandoned space jail station lost in space. A recording i made in may of 2013 as i was trying to get a good recording of the wonderful wood thrush recorded. You can still faintly hear the wood thrush in the background, but the nice surprise on this recording is the very clear, bubbling, trilling call of a proud little chipping sparrow. This recording was carefully made using my homemade parabolic reflector microphone. (*using my trusty rode ntg-2), and going into my handy zoom h4n recorder. I wanted to get as accurate a recording as possible so i bumped up the bit rate to 96 kpbs. I know it makes for a larger file, but i think it is worth it.

This one prominently features the sound of water flushing through an outside kitchen drain into an alleyway. Common suburban evening birdsong can be heard clearly throughout with distant traffic noise in the background. Recorded on a summer evening in june 2016 in southern england using a rode nt-4 microphone in a rycote lyre shock mount, marantz pmd661 and edited using adobe audition.

This is a percussion beats made at tempo 124. It spans 8 bars and is ready to be looped in your daw. This is a sound i've found in my old foxdot projects, it has a really cool "ocean" or "wave" noise-like sound that repeats at the right then left of stereo, in the end of each 4-bar segement. It layers multiple kicks and snares, with one of the sounds being stretched, that produce this "wave" sound. It can be evaluated in foxdot with the following code to replicate this result.
