Recorded inside of an abandoned building next to a boarded-up, old wooden exit door. Has a nice, subtle low hum, which is actually from a plane flying overhead. Also contains knocking sounds, which is most likely the door being a bit loose. Would be awesome for horror atmospheres. Feel free to use this sound for what ever you wish to. January 30, 2014. A major ice storm moves in to the east coast of the united states. Sitting in a small cabin in the woods of north carolina, the sound of ice particles (sleet) hitting a stove-pipe can be heard. It's cold. It's bleak. The power has just cut off. Various kitchen noises. I recorded this while making foley for a film recently. It's intentionally roomy and captured from medium distance which was the position of the listener. There's no significant background roomtone (no traffic, fridge hum or voices), just the exagerated cutlery movements, glasses and cups clingings, water sink, cabinets, fridge door and stuff. Great single-speed diesel engine sound, loopable for any length background you need. This one happens to be at about 1200 rpm for a four-cylinder ford tractor engine. That said, i am living dangerously today because it's a field recording and i'm not saying where it was. Not because i can't, but because i frequently use the wrong door when entering or leaving the supermarket and i usually completely ignore the painted traffic directives in the parking lot. I'm proud of that.

Time to give something back. Drilling right in front of my house. Because internet cable was broken. Used the opportunity to mic it up. Recording made from inside. Drilling is about 5m away with a wall in between. You can hear my son about halfway through way in the background. But thought i wouldn't cut up the sample. Recording using 2 x gefell m930 in ortf stereo. No processing. Use freely. Would appreciate attribution if you use it, but not mandatory.

An interesting sound from a house we were staying at. The outdoor exhaust for the clothes dryer made this jet like noise, particularly when the microphone was moved around it. There are some bird and mower noises in the background, but this really just wants to be the basis for some cool sound design jets, whooshes, turbines, etc. Play with it and make something cool. This is a great clear and loud recording of a cat purring for an extended period of time with no obtrusive noises in background. Rip pozzo, whom the purr belongs to. He was a very affectionate cat and purred if you so much as stared at him. Happened to catch this sound one night while alone at home with the cat. I asked him to load the dishwasher, and he actually did, except that he washed the dishes by hand and used the dishwasher for a drying rack. I didn't ask him to record it for me, so maybe he's trying to change the subject. Bully for him. Great file, might be diminished in volume quite a bit and used as a background in a diner or restaurant kitchen. This is the way men wash dishes, and it explains why many of mine are chipped.

This is the sound of a storm drain emptying into a gutter. My street floods in heavy rain, giving the storm drain a river-like sound. I placed my roland r-05 on the sidewalk just above the drain. It babbles and splashes like a river, but it is on a residential city street. I recorded it at 2am, so there are few vehicles in the recording though several faintly pass by in the background. Recording of clothes in the dry cleaner for a bit longer than one hour. I recorded this in order to use for my newborn to be able to fall asleep as white noise sound. Works pretty fine because of the repetition;at the end of the recording, the machine stops and restarts a few times for a few short cycles. Recorded with zoom h4n in mp3 format.
