This is a smoothly rising shepard tone that i created using adobe audition 3's tone generator. I generated the tone as sine waves in 7 different octaves and mixed the results together. The period of repetition is 10 seconds. (this is a second version in which i removed the phase variance, making the sound monophonic for all practical purposes).

Recorded using only an android phone and 'recording machine' app. The recording was made on the metal jetty at london greenwich a minute or so after the ferry had departed. The sound is of the metal plates of the walkway rubbing together as the jetty gently rises and falls on the swell. Eerie and atmospheric. Strangely quiet considering it was recorded in a major city.

My vcr rewinding a vhs tape. Sounds pretty gnarly at the end. Recorded with a jm27 into my zoom h4n. As a side note, this sound was a real pain to record. Every time i set up the mic, it seemed like the ac would come on, the dog would bark, or some other sound would ruin the recording. Whatever, i got it done.

Because it's recorded in april (before air conditioning required), early in the morning (no background traffic), there's not much urban background hum. A peaceful fall soundscape of the swelling of the wind as it blows through the leaves of the cottonwood tree, plus, the melancholy sound of some blue jays calling out -- to me blue jays are the iconic sound of fall. Walyunga is a haven of peace and tranquility just outside of perth. It's one of my favourite hikes in the area, as it's only a couple of hours long and combines proximity to water, a bit of a climb, stunning views of perth's skyline, solitude, and gorgeous flora and fauna. This recording was done in june, 2020 using a tascam dr-05x.

Vendors in the small stalls lining the side of the street are going about their business as customers and the occasional scooter pass by. Recorded with a zoom h2n and matrixed to 5. 1 surround.

Making a cup of tea/coffee pouring hot water from a cistern into a mug, ripping open a sugar packet and stirring it in with a teaspoon. Recorded on an hhb flashmic drm-85-c cardioid as foley for a podcast introduction setting listeners at a business conference.

A recording of a thunderstorm using my zoom h4n from my front porch. The clip starts toward the tail end of the storm, and the thunder and rain slows down throughout. Starting in the middle and towards the end of the clip, there's even some birds and forest frogs in the background. A few cars drove past, and they can be heard as well.

I got into a small crawl space under a concrete road, which seemed to be an old sewage tunnel, and recorded the sound of a car driving overtop of me. It's a gentle rise and fall of a car engine. You can hear me let out my breath as the car drives away.

It's that couple again. On this day of them, it seems like they were trying to keep the noises down, but the female can still be heard. The man is same as usual. You can hear them having a conversation after they were done. The clip is cut short and edit. Some parts are silenced. Some background noises couldn't be removed all the way.

This is a recording of very low frequency hum of a steel mill. The sample has been low pass filtered. The main frequency is about at 25hz. The sound was recorded some distance away of the steel mill area, where it mixed with other sounds as a constant hum, which could be felt in body too at certain spots.

A soprano pipistrelle recorded in the vicinity of maynooth university in september 2019. Originally recorded at 192 khz, this rate has been changed to 16 khz to make the sounds audible. In this extract the bat can be heard echolocating which culminates in a 'feeding buzz' as the bat catches prey. Recorded on a sony pcm d100 using knowles ultrasonic mics. Noise reduction has been applied.

I took this recording from my room in a beautiful casa on the main square in santa clara. It was warm and not windy so i could keep the windows open during the storm, and eavesdrop on this little party, which seemed to warm up as the storm did. A nice & sunny recording session at the airport! positioned right at the flight path of departing planes, this served as a test recording for the tascam dr-40x. At some point during the session i decided to point the recorder straight up, instead of towards the planes themselves, creating a nice stereo "pass-by" effect.
