I made a simple alarm sound on logic pro x by layering 2 alarm sounds on top of each other to give a more realistic panic alarm sound. Thought i'd share it with the community as i found it really useful in some of my videos.

This is a berimbau, a brazilian gourd instrument made of a wire strung tightly on a piece of bowed staff. There is a wah kind of effect made as you move the gourd in to your belly. There is some ambiance added to the sample, but it's mostly the instrument that you hear.

I did not record this ambience sound! wtfi've left my zoom h1 recorder at a friends place for quite some while until i picked it up today. I picked up a home-grade reel to reel machine at a thrift store and and this is the tape which was in it. A father sends messages from home to his son in the u. S. Navy during the vietnam war, including fatherly advice about cars and shopping overseas and anxiously awaiting his sons return. He provides sample fodder at 14:19 about musical gear lust and otherwise provides an insight to the times. I wanted to prove you could make an 808 bass in tripleoscillator (lmms) without a vst. I've never made hip-hop before. This was recorded in the centre of oxford, near the junction between broad street and turl street, on 23rd february 2013. I was facing west along broad street with turl street, and the pavement, to my left. There are many different sounds on this recording including bikes being parked (i was standing near a bike rack) and ridden, cars lurking for a parking space, dropping people off and turning round (broad street has a car park in the middle of it), plenty of different people walking past and talking, and a big issue seller. There is the occasional bit of wind noise, but not as much as i'd feared (luckily the wind was behind me). Recorded with a marantz pmd661 with built-in microphones.

This is a clip of various engine sounds recorded on my 2003 subaru impreza wrx with a 3" turbo-back exhaust system. The audio starts with the engine at idle and includes a few engine revs at different rpms. You can hear some turbo whistling and also some rattling of god-knows-what parts. It's a little muffled (kind of a muddy sound), but could be used as part of an action sequence or with a music track laid over. Bought an old sony walkman from an antique mall. It was advertised as "radio works, but cassette player does not play. " this was true, and i was surprised at the noises it made when you tried to play tapes, though whether or not you have a tape or not it makes these types of noises when you switch it to the metal/chrome setting with dolby b on. You can add a 60 hertz hum if you touch any of the metal parts, and can somewhat mess the sound by messing with the spindles as they move. I may upload some more samples of this at one point, with cleaner recording of each of the sounds you can create.

This is a dirt track in alabama (monster mountain, i think). I didn't realize my recorder kicked on as i was carrying it around in my pocket. The result was some really good audio of a dirt bike race, along with a little bit of small crowd sounds.

This is the arrival of the class 40 locomotive into bury station on the east lancashire railway. The sound was recorded from bury south signal box as the train rounded the curve into bury bolton st station. This was recorded on the h4n. The date of the recording was 12th january 2013.

For pitching the bass part / tail up and down, i suggest using cool edit pro or adobe audition. Cubase pitching/timestretch algorithms are quite nice as well.

A one-take recording of someone trying to do a dutch approximation for a suspenseful audio drama, i tried to clean it up as best i could and final form will be cleaned up/lower volume/panned out to sides. Since i have little knowledge about improving field-recordings i uploaded the files as they were, only cut off the switching on and off of the recorder (zoom h2n).

Gorgeous sound of two vintage british diesel locos pulling a 13 carriage train. Recorded using the built in mics on a cannon powershot g15 then processed to try and remove as much wind noise using izotope ozone in m/s mode, (much of the wind noise was in the side channel).

Trying so hard to alleviate the boredom. Synths are cool. I tried to make a sound to emulate the slim phatty poly/multiosc. Moog that i saw earlier, it's nowhere near as big and beautiful but it helped pass some time. Like champagne on a beer budget, it's just what might be.

An express train of kintetsu railway passes by at rather high speed. Connecting my at835st to a newly purchased edirol r-44. I actually bought it for need of recording four channels of drums sound, but i was completely astonished by its great ability as a field recorder. Wonderful mic preamps, aren't they?.

I washed up some glasses and found them making a loud dripping noise when left on to dry. The water was dripping off the glass onto the corrugated drying side and forming a little wall with each drip, each time there as a drip the wall broke transferred the vibration on to the resonating tumbler.

My headset was plugged in into internal audio device, capture level sets to maximum and used command:arecord -c2 -f cd -d 10 internalaudiodevicenoise. Wav. Yes, guys, it's linux! :-).
