This is the soundscape i've recorded in my neighboorhood of cidade tiradentes, a district from são paulo, brazil. We name these events as pancadão (big punch) or fluxo (flow). This is an extremely clean recording of a sudden cloudburst that turned in to a torrential downpour on december 28, 2020. The peaks are all very close to 0db. I opened the sliding glass door to our balcony and placed my zoom h4n as close as possible to the rain without destroying the recorder. What resulted is an amazingly layered rain track. This is because rain can be heard striking multiple surfaces such as a tree, a metal table, the cement balcony, etc. . . There is not much thunder (that's rare in this area) but if you need a few dramatic thunder claps they can be found at the following times one the file is downloaded. The recording was conducted close range at street level directly at the intersection by a tram line, the rear mics, featured in this file, are pointing onto the sidewalk, away from the street, at a right angle. The close range affords very detailed reproduction of vehicle and tire noises, as well as the tram driving by the mics at the end of the recording. Recording conducted with a zoom h2. These are the rear channels, mics set to 120° dispersion.

I needed a very specific brand of lollipop with a chocolatey center for a short film i'm working on. None of my library crunch fx sounded right, so i chomped into one myself. Just call me mr. Owl. Recorded on an iphone, about an inch from my face. Just a single crunch edited to have a little extra tail. The effect came out as a satisfying crunch with decent low-mid range. This piece is a sound-sculpture of a weather effect commonly called the beast from the east in the uk. It is based on a longer piece by me called frozen kaos. This was a recording taken on a small train riding around the louisville zoo in kentucky, usa. I took this towards the end of the tour, and was on the back of the train so you can hear the announcer quite clearly directing us. Recorded from about 0515 in the morning. This is in a suburban garden in essex, uk. A blackbird can be heard through most of the recording. Other birds that can be heard are pheasant, robin, woodpigeon, wren, collared dove, peacock (not native but this bird is living wild in the area), carrion crow, black headed gull, starling, magpie and goldfinch. The recording was made with a sennheiser k6/me66 microphone on a tripod attached to a zoom h5. There has been some noise reduction and editing with audacity. The editing was mainly to reduce the worst of the aircraft noise. There is still some aircraft and other human-related noise as well as some wind occasionally.

Recording of my duduk. It's in the key of a, so i played a b3 and pitched it up to c3 with melodyne so it's usable in a sampler or to import as a wavetable in serum or whatever. Because of it's harmonic content, it actually works great as a clean yet relatively translatable sub bass for electronic music. I used it to make a wavetable in serum which works perfectly. The instrument is a double reed woodwind folk instrument from armenia, the reeds are made of a flattened piece of bamboo, and the body is made of the wood from an apricot tree.
