An odd sound: i set pocket recorder out hoping to capture some birdsong; a raven swooped down and made a couple of passes above it. Perhaps he was attracted by the colorful fuzzy windscreen? at any rate: recorded on an olympus ls-14, some wind in the trees in the background.

Red wing blackbird on pennsylvania farm - sat on top of game camera so the sound was clear - can also hear geese flying over and short chirps of blackbird.

This is a hawk. "these birds are slender with short broad rounded wings and a long tail which helps them maneuver in flight. They have long legs and long sharp talons used to kill their prey and a sharp hooked bill used in feeding. Females tend to be larger in size than males. They often ambush their prey, capturing it after a short chase. They mainly eat small birds and mammals. ". Minidisc.

I recorded this with a yamaha pocketrak that i taped to the feeder and enhanced the vol. With sony sound forge. It was fun to watch their reaction to the recorder but they eventually figured out it was harmless. Hunger overcomes fear every time. :o) here and there you can hear our tv in the background as i forgot to mute it. Please comment on what you may use it for. Thanks. :o).

A recording made around 5 am in early april. . . . The peaceful but yet exhilirating ambience of spring birds and crickets. There is an ocassional cricket who sounds like he literally must have been sitting point-blank in front of my microphone - a great surprise, you can literally hear his wings stridulating. Recorded using the handy zoom h4n and the built-in stereo mics.

They are referred to as different things but overall a creepy, evil, raspy, breathy type screeching sound. I created this with a type of practiced scream on a blue yeti usb condenser microphone. I recorded in audacity and added some reverb, fade in, and fade out. It was originally for a video game voice over audition. I also have the original with no fx if needed. My example/inspiration were the creatures in lord of the rings, fellowship of the ring. They are also called the fell riders and the black wings (when they ride the fell beasts), as well as the shadows, the servants of sauron, and the nine servants of the lord of the rings. Not a very good recording, and very short - but this is the flapping of a juvenile bald eagle's wings and its cry. I'm only uploading this because i don't think there are any other samples on freesound. I didn't manage to get a good shot at this one, so that's all there is. But i'll try for a better sample as soon as i can. This is a real bald eagle - not a red-tailed hawk, which is what most eagle samples really are. As with the loons, i'm on a bad dialup connection but if i get a better sample i'll upload it as a wav.

Their densely patterned grey and brown plumage makes individuals difficult to see in the daytime when they rest on the ground or perch motionless along a branch, although the male shows white patches in the wings and tail as he flies at night.
