We watched the stephen hawking show on pbs last night as they tried to filter out voices from space and i thought this would make a good alien voice trying to contact us. Just a small creak from the chair in the office of a whalewatching captain i was interviewing. A bit of ambient noise. Not much of a contribution, i know, but i've been using little creaks such as this to recreate the sound of a 15th-century sailing ship, so thought it might come in useful for someone somewhere.

Giving a test of my new mono lapel mic i noticed some interference/static on the right channel - which is strange as it is mono. . . . But i thought it sounded interesting and i hope it's useful to you. Comment what you used it in below for some extra exposure for your project - but it isn't necessary. This is a recording made on the morning of march 25, 2012 in greensboro, north carolina, usa, featuring a thunderstorm and plenty of birdsong. I recorded this as i thought it was a pretty interesting contrast at the time. This recording was made with an olympus ls100 and it's internal microphones behind a window screen.

My first excursion into the ambient realm. My friends mimeophon, o-ctrl, morphagene, x-pan, erbe-verbe and the omnipresent clouds took me to somewhere i never thought i'd venture. Basically a very simple sound source, sped up and slowed down in segments, granulated and pasted back together. Quite a wet mix. Shake the drops off afterwards. . .

Recorded in 2005 on an unusually chilly september day, while walking in downtown ottawa, friends and i came across a ceremonial event at the war cenotaph. I thought i'd record the sounds of traffic, people and background music and my timing was good as the choir launched into a sombre and touching rendition of danny boy to remember fallen soldiers of war.

A lot of fruit died to make this sound. Ever have a whale explode and need the sound of flesh falling from the sky? maybe you had an adventurer who was turned into mince meat above your heads. I needed a robotic female countdown for the game i am developing and found the file by "jenninexus". Using audacity i applied some effects to it and made it faster. This sound was from a live video feed on a social media broadcast. At some point the audio just got caught into a feedback loop that lasted for a bit. I thought it sounded interesting and saved it. Has kind of a laser or phaser cannon kind of thing going on. Perhaps an alert sound of some sort. Probably many possibilities for usage.

Kinda a vapor-y inspired bit of music for a project of mine. I don't know if i will use it or if you will find it useful, but i thought i might as well upload it. Made in fl studio in a few hours, with vocals provided by me. They have been pretty destroyed tho, to be kinda incomprehensible. There's no samples used otherwise.

This sound is the sound of the door to my bathroom closing from the outside. To record this i used my sontronics stc-10 microphone, my audiobox interface and pro tools on my mac at 48khz, 24 bit. I recorded this sound to be used as foley for a door closing off screen in a student film. I uploaded as i thought it might come in useful to others.

To make this series of sounds, i blended a bunch of samples together, some recorded on my go-to usb mic, some synthesized in ableton. I thought they fit together nicely vs being isolated pieces. This is an editied version of acclivity's sound file, "30832_acclivity_summereveninginmygarden". His original file contains a barking dog, which depending on your usage, can deter from the intent of your project. Since acclivity's recording has excellent signal to noise ratio, and has captured some beautiful birdsong, i thought other people might be able to use this edited file with all the dog barking taken out.

This is a crow picked up by dreamtalk recorder, a brilliant app for iphone/ipad/android. It was early hours in the morning and it was outside my window. I have had to amplify the file quite a lot to make it easier to hear. I thought it sounded fed up in its tone, i've not heard one exactly like this before.

This is another loop i made with some software i'm cooking up for unity (to allow users to make short loops like this and embed them in their games without necessarily rendering them to wav/mp3's first). Something went wrong with the audio! first i was going to record the sound of the wind. I placed the equipment, checked the audio and left. As i came back i realized that the audio file is full of interference!first i was quite angry about it, but then i thought that it is a pretty good sound effect!.

Field recording on h4n zoom recorder as a concrete was spayed against the wire frame of our in ground pool. This has been normalized, equalized and compressed in audacity. The source of the sound originates in an apartment. I recorded the creaking noise of the front door with a zoom h4n. I didn't change effect as i wanted it to be used naturally as background noise and give special atmosphere, like in alfred hitchcock movies. I remarked this was a very clear, resourceful sound when going out from home: i heard it and suddenly thought that would be a good sound for the freesounders's community.

I was playing around trying to create a different sound when i accidentally created this sound which reminded me of a rocket flying by. I thought it might be useful and uploaded it. I kept it a bit longer so you can edit it into a loop or fade it out to make it seem the rocket flies away =). Made with fl studio with the free firebird vst plugin.

Been downloading off this site for ages and thought i'd give something i recorded back. I drank from a glass bottle by a mic to recreate a character in a film drinking some beer from a glass bottle. A small sound but in those quiet scenes i think noises like this make all the difference. Done on my olympus dm5 recorder that i use for last minute foley. Hooray i'm finally on here!.

A musical santa plush with old, half-used batteries that i recorded 16 years ago. Sorry for the loud sound, the bitrate and the sound quality. I thought the file would still be usable. I don't even remember the equipment used for the sound recording, i think it was an old caraoke microphone connected to a pc with the means at hand.

I created this machine gun sound effect quite by accident. I was synthesizing a snare drum in fl_studio using multiple synth layers, effects and automation trying to create a really short and snappy snare and set the loop length really short by mistake and when i hit play to audition my sound i thought it resembled machine gun fire. So anyway enjoy and feel free to use it in your game or whatever way you want.

I thought i would do a recording of me listening to truckers on the cb radio while i was seeing if i would pick up anything. Surprisingly, i was able to receive something because sometimes i don't pick up anybody because barely nobody is on it. Sometimes you can understand what they say but sometimes not all the time. I layered three different snare drum takes to achieve this one. All three of those takes are from a ludwig black beauty. I did a close, stereo overhead, and stereo room mic configuration. Originally recorded/used for an 80s cover song i've been working on. Sounded nice in the mix so i thought i'd throw it on here. -yellowtree.

In fact, this record i added is not a carefully watched record. It's an arrangement i made overnight. I did, though, because i thought the lovers would come out. It's a little nervous. Maybe a mysterious event can be used in a documentary or presentation. If you want to improve it i can make some effects and editing. Bon appetit :).

A bubbling sound which makes an excellent loop for a background sound effect. Like a scientist's lab, or a wizard's cauldron bubbling away. I've also thought it would be a cool sort of futuristic bubble car kind of sound as well as it floats along. Anyway, use your imagination and apply it to whatever you want. I made the sound by flicking my lips with my finger, but it makes a great bubble sound.

This sound was created by mistake and i thought it sound perfectly like a bad transmission from radio or spacestation. I´ve cut the audiofile so it is loopable. After spending a weekend putting together a giant wardrobe (from everyones favourite swedish furniture store) for my girlfriend i thought i should reward myself by making some recordings of it. This is a close mic recording of one of the internal draws. For this recording i used my sennheiser mkh416 going into a sound devices mp-1 preamp and recorded to a tascam dr-680.

I really needed something that sounded like a group of horses galloping in the distance and couldn't find anything. So i busted out my zoom h6 and set it on my futon comforter and then just tapped my fingertips on the surface right next to the stereo mics. Then i put that track in premiere and made four layers, all offset to get different rhythm and i thought it turned out pretty good so wanted to share it.

While messing around in audacity i accidentally made this. I generated dial sounds and g-verb'd it. I then put a high pass filter on it and paulsteached it. And made this. The breathing sound wasn't there in the original. But when i paulstreached it again. It just. . . Happened. I uploaded this because i thought i should share this. This is only a recording of me playing a djembe, recorded with a pair of nt1-a mics, but after messing around with some of logic's amp and resonator effects i ended up with this. The 6/8 groove reminded me of the doctor-who theme, and the interval displacement of a minor 6th i thought sounded pretty cool. You don't have to credit me, but if you use my sound i'd love to hear what you come up with!.

Some raw one-shots from my doepfer a-100 modular synthesizer recorded and edited using ni maschine. In my ears they sound way better with a bit of compression, but i thought the unprocessed files would be more useful. Naming is super vague. Recorded back in may 2014. It's always nice to hear what projects you use these sounds for. Let me know.

I've been working on a plugin for unity to allow users to create short loops from arrangements of other loops. Seems to be working pretty well, pretty much like a low-tech version of acid. Anyways, this was a little arrangement i made as a test, and i kinda like it so i thought i'd post it here for feedback and such. Feel free to use this loop for any project in any way, credit is not required.

I typed quite slow in the beginning if you need to edit out and synch with your footage, if you just want typing sound in the background i think the best is in the end of the clip. The mouse clicking comes later in the clip. I've mixed it a bit but might need more mixing. I've used freesound for 7 years now and i thought i would pay back for all the good sounds that i've used from freesound. More will come <3.

This is a kind of dull, soft laser bolt or gun blast. Or perhaps just some sort of impact sound. I thought it was interesting, because what it really is made up of is the sound of me shuffling my cell phone around for a second. How it ended up sounding like this i don't know. But perhaps someone has an application for the use of this sound. Enjoy.
