Bordeaux, france03/27/2020 9:30am. In the morning i heard some birds and woke up to record them. But i took too much time to go out of my bed to record. . So when i started the recording, humans arrives in the street with some music and the birds keep singing at the same time. Finally, birds keep quiet and surely flee from humans who goes further. Then it's silence.

Whilst sitting outside a starbucks in hollywood, ca, i took notice of a man talking/arguing to a half-empty bottle of coca-cola. What ensued was about 26 minutes of stream-of-consciousness homeless speak. Some of the more coherent passages were about gambling debts in reno, nv. I'm still wrestling with the morality of recording these kinds of things.

A very loud and rumbly thunderstorm rolled through jefferson city, mo. I set up my zoom h4n with the mics set to 120 degrees to record the storm. Less than a minute after i started recording, a lightning bolt hit just across the street. A lot of loud and rumbly thunder in this audio clip.

This is a recording i took in my back yard on the 4th of july 2014. There are the sounds of crickets as neighborhood fireworks being set off faintly in the background sounding almost like a war zone. Recorded in crivitz, wisconsin. On this dock you could hear sounds from across the entire lake. Recorded in march 2021, while the lake was beginning to melt. Dogs can be heard barking, you can hear cars roll down the streets, and occasionally there are some sounds of people talking, as the lake is surrounded by peoples' homes.

A czech guy named "staney the robot man" who lives in prague build this little synth. It's completely handmade and consists of a bunch of analog circuitry that when powered creates strange oscillations in current. It's also built into a seseame street toy saxophone. This set sounds like a robot talking. If chopped up and sequenced you could do a lot with it.

One of my favorite sounds is that of leaves skittering across a street on a crisp fall day. . . This, however, is elusive and tricky to record. I was looking for a sound that fitted a dance studio/recording studio reception area so i mixed a few sounds together and came up with this. It has traffic sounds, various bird sounds, indistinct chatter, a thumping bass in the background like in a room on the floor above and a harmony group practising somewhere else in the building. The crowd hasn't arrived, so the night clubs are very audible, lots of bass beats pounding. It's a summer night in the san diego gaslamp district. Recorded in stereo from high up in a hotel window. Lots of nighttime traffic and in the first two minutes, several loud vehicles pass and you hear three loud reports of distant fireworks followed by distant barking. There's about three more minutes of traffic and then the noise dies down to neighborhood hum in the last 45 seconds.

There was some sort of running event going on, so you can hear the footsteps of lots of runners and the crowds cheering them on. This is a recording i got sat outside a retro clothes shop on portobello road in london. Distant music combined with the market and people walking past creates a busy scene with the busy road that runs over the top of the market giving a nice base to fill out the recording. Indonesian maids singing in the park -. Every sunday in the streets and parks of hong kong - scores of maids meet up to enjoy their one day off a week -- they are temporary residents of hong kong and no matter how long they stay here for they must return home - there was a case last year of a lady who having worked here for 25 years wasnt allowed to stay. . These migrants mostly live with their chinese employers - who treat them very much like slaves, working long hard days, some of whome get to sleep on kitchen or bathroom floors. . . They arent wealthy so on their days off can't afford to go restaurants an cinemas and any way they are all here to earn money to send back to their families and children, since they cant afford much they tend to gather in groups in to dance and sing, or sit and eat play cards. I just so happened past a 'street' party in victoria park and took a recording as it sounded very exotic and all the people seemed happy in way i couldnt describe - altho i feel this recording is actually a little sad?. .

Nyc subway train arrives, doors open, announcement of direction, doors close, train departs. I stood on the platform at the montrose l station with a sony minidisc and recorded the entire process of a nyc subway train coming and going. Low noise, though you may wish to use a high-pass filter as there is so much bass in the material.
