We hear the sound of the restaurant with people eating and chatting while the open kitchen is busy washing and preparing dishes. Middle school (ages 12-14) band of about 50 students preparing to make an audition recording in their school auditorium. So there are buildings on 3 sides of my location and a gated entrance at the front. It is mainly drums that are played for a dragon dance. These dances are performed at special occasions, such as a new business opening. There is a troop of about 8 people there to perform the dance. For the first half of the recording, the two dragons (four people) were preparing and they were actually performing the dance for the second half of this recording.

Fascinating to contemplate how, while us humans are sleeping soundly, preparing for our next day, nature, is performing this nightly chorus, under cover of darkness. During this transition period in early fall the woods are not as loud as, say, three weeks ago. Even the insects seem subdued. I was reviewing some audio in search of something else, when i realized i had one of the rarest of audio occurrences, the natural queef that comes from coitus and without deliberate inflation. It isn't disgusting or loud, it's quite soft and cute and i'm overjoyed to have found it, as its rarity is something on the order of an alaskan gnat fart in january.
