The guest room i am staying in has a tile bathroom. Each time i take a shower, i hear this magnificent hum of the water heater clicking on and then turning off once the shower water is stopped. I was fortunate enough to hear it click on while i wasn't in the shower and captured about 30 seconds of it before it died. Infinite variation, impossible to replicate. At the end, as the water heater shuts down, it clicks down into the lowest ranges of the frequency spectrum; i didn't hear it until i listened to the recording but the couple of seconds of that are just as magical. Wish i would have left the recorder running!. Captured with a zoom h3-vr to ambix format at 96k24bit and bounced to stereo. Processing: 24db gain to all 4 clips, izotope spectral denoise to get rid of the air in the room and izotope ozone to enhance the bass signal a touch. Enjoy!.

It's a recording of three emtec cd-rs being broken with bare hands. I had 3 audio cd-r that were burned useless. I decided to record their last sounds. You can hear the cds cracking and breaking, me bending them and trying to break them - they were pretty elastic - i had to learn how to crack them. So at first i had some trouble. Around 0:45 you can hear as i'm bending two cds together they squeak and crackle but don't break. The sound is not edited (hence the tag "raw") - no processing was done - i just truncated the beginning and the end leaving you everything you might need. Recorded with a zoom h2 placed on my bed. I was breaking the cds above it. There was a lot of splinters around, you can hear me fiddle with them from around 2:10 on. Originally wav 96khz/24-bit. Truncated and converted to flac with audacity.

A recording made around noon on the edge of a woods located right in the middle of a major midwestern university. Throughout this entire recording, you'll hear the everpresent hum of heating and air conditioner units running. You will also hear faint conversations and laughter of students as they walk to class, faint sounds from a nearby construction site, distant rumble of traffic, the distant droning of an airplane lazily floating through the april sky.
