This sound effect was captured by me on video on my canon digital powershot a460 camera, i stood just above the motorway at charing cross glasgow scotland and captured this sound from the jam packed motorway, both sides were busy, i even caught the sound of a police car coming along the hard shoulder. I simply took the sound from my video. This is version 1 of an atmos recording of a busy beach during the summer. In this version i am facing the sea so it picks up more of the surf sounds and people playing in the sea itself. Recorded on a tascam dr-40 using internal stereo mic. See version 2 for atmos recording where i have my back to the sea and pick up more of the beach itself.

Busy boulevard with traffic running both ways. One direction is crossed with an air hose designed to count the number of passing vehicles. You hear the tires slapping across it as they speed by.

There are noisy supermarkets. This is an amplified raw recording. Workers move furniture, people talk, music plays etc. Intetesting acoustics due to the design of the ceiling. Some noise comforts me - something's going on. I like busy places.

Recording from a balcony a couple of storeys above street level. Small side street in istanbul. Busy with cars, lories, people and birds. Zoom h1 and mastered with supreme analog gear.

Field recordings extracted from videos i took while travelling on a vaporetto (small public transport canal boat) along the grand canal. You can hear the water, the engine revving as the boat criss-crosses the canal from one stop to the next and the(mostly english)chatter of other passengers on the boat. On "venice2" horns are blown by other vessels and someone says at the end "i'm getting off the boat". I have joined 2 tracks on this one and there is a small gap, but with the right equipment that can be edited out. All in all very evocative of the busy atmosphere in venice, even in march (2012).
